PhotoHunt: Mostly Black

The Highland Cows (Wikipedia)  were introduced to me by fellow Slow Traveler and blogging friend, AnnieNC (Churches in Venice), right before my trip to Scotland in 2009.  Here's a great and very funny post that she wrote on her blog about these wonderful animals.  Ever since then I have been fascinated with them.

So needless to say while I was visiting the Highlands in Scotland, I took tons of photos.  And since they hardly move while grazing, they are perfect photo subjects.  Most of them are this beautiful caramel color but in a group of them I found in a field near my hotel in Arisaig, I found this beautiful black highland cow and he had no problems posing for me.

His caramel colored buddy on the other hand was not as cooperative as you'll see in this short video: :)

  1. That video is too funny. At least he finally did turn his head before you were soaking wet. The black cow is so handsome! They are very cool animals.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Hysterical! I know some humans who run on that kinda these creatures that you (and Annie) have introduced me to. Great choice, K! Have a great weekend.

  3. Hi Girls, thanks so much for your comments...

Annie, thanks again for sharing your friends postcard with us. Yes , my caramel highland cow was making me work for my shot! LOL. The black cow was very handsome and much more cooperative he he. Have a great weekend too!

M, glad you find them cool too. Even in the cold, wet and windy Highlands weather I found it so much fun to photograph them, glad you like them. Have a great weekend too!

  4. Does anyone have the urge to cut their fringes? (Sorry, don't want to put that idea into anyone's head -- but I just had to ask!)

  5. Hi YTSL, LOL! No one has mentioned the urge to trim off their bangs yet but another fellow Slow Traveler and blogging pal, Sandra in a previous post I did on the Caramel Highland Cows did have the urge to put a hair barret on. :) I'm not sure how they can see through their bangs too, but then again they hardly move...and actually they have these big beautiful eyes, so I guess that helps! :)

Thanks so much for your comments and have a great weekend!

  6. Ha - I was sure that I'd see those cows again this week for the latest theme. Thanks for the video - it made me laugh.

    Have a super weekend.

  7. Hi Jerry, thanks so much for your comments. Glad you liked the video. :) I loved your photo selection too. Congrats on the win. :) I'm sorry I can't seem to still post a comment your blog for some reason. I'm thinking it must be me since I see comments on there. I'm sorry, I'll keep on trying to see if it goes through. Have a super weekend too.

  8. hahaha... I remember those guys. They looks so much like that cartoon. I love their bangs.

  9. Hi Kathy, I do love your cow photos. They certainly are stubborn beasts -- she just refused to look at you!!!!

  10. Hi Marta and Sandra, thanks so much for your comments girls.

Marta, I love their bangs too! I took so many photos of them I'm hoping for another PH theme where I can continue to show case them. :)

Sandra, she was certainly being a "Diva"! He, he.

It's me Trekcapri (aka Kathy). Thanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment.
