30 Year Anniversary: And What A Climb It's Been

Today is my 30 year anniversary working for the City of Los Angeles. Whoo Hoo! I feel so blessed to have had the career that I have had and to have worked with so many wonderful people.  And I could not have had this opportunity without my family's support (Thanks so much Mom, Dad and Sis).

Ain't about how fast I get there,
ain't about what's waiting on the other side.
It's the Climb.
I can almost see it
that dream, I'm dreaming . . . .
Keep movin', Keep climbin'
Keep the faith . .  .

My climb isn't quite done yet, but I can see the top of the mountain and it is so close, I can almost taste it! LOL!

    1. Hi Girasoli, very cool! Time will fly by and before you know it your 30 years anniversary with the State will be here and you can do the Happy Dance too. :)

I went to work like any other day but when my iPhone App for Anniversary dates :) went off showing my "official" 30 year anniversary, I was like wow! It's a great feeliing. And then in September I will reach the age to be able to "Officially" retire. Whoo Hoo! I can't wait for that milestone too. When this day came, I always said I would retire as soon as I met the milestone and requirement to be able to retire. To do so any sooner we get hit with an early retirement deduction.

But looking at my calculations, I really need to work 1 more year (the longer we work after we make the 30th year, the more money we get. Not much more, but every little bit helps) and maybe 2 if I want to retire with our new pay increase (if it is approved). If it's not approved I'm gone next year. If it is approved, I'll leave in July 2016.

It's an awesome feeling and something you'll really enjoy experiencing next year. Although 29 years isn't something to sneeze about either.

      Have a great week!

  2. I wanted to congratulate you on the 30 years. I know what an awesome achievement this is. I made it for 20 years at my last job before I encouraged them to force me to leave. It was actually a very good move for me. Again - Congrats! PS: I'm starting to move my blog over to my personal website. I posted with my new link. Still a work in progress.

    1. Hi Marta, thanks so much for your comments. It's amazing still to me to realize that I have been in this job for 30 years. Twenty years is a long time too. I'm glad that your move turned out to be a really good change for you.

I just visited your website and I really like it. I've always been a big fan of your photography and it looks like a wonderful informative website and a great way to share all of your passions. I'm looking forward to following along.

      Have a great week.
