American Idol Season 11: My first impressions . . . .

Wow, I can't believe that this is my first post for American Idol's Season 11.  I've been watching the auditions but somehow haven't been inspired to blog about it. Has the flame been extinguished?  With shows like the X-Factor and the Voice, has my loyalty wavered and interests gone elsewhere?

Well, I can definitely tell you that it's not because of the X-Factor. Sadly, I don't have any positive things to say about the show and I predict that it will not last as long as AI.  The Voice on the other hand is a really good show. I like the judges, I like the format, and the talent is top notch.

But after watching Hollywood Group Night last night, I somehow found my inspiration.  So what gave me the spark?  Was it the high drama of the pressure, was it the famous one liners of judge, Steven Tyler?  No, I finally found my spark to write because of the great new talent that has been discovered for American Idol Season 11. Yay!

Audition Standouts for me:  Lauren Gray, Rachelle Lamb, Reis Kloeckener, John Keyser, Jermaine Jones (aka Gentle Giant), Romeo Diahn, Phillip Phillips, Creighton (really different soulful voice), Reed Grimm, Skylar Laine, Hee Jun Han, David Leathers,Eben Franckewitz, Jessica Phillips, Adam Brock.

I love last years American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery's tweets about last night's episode:

"I honestly don't know how I survived! That was a crazy night!  You gotta work thru the stress and be prepared for an all nighter!"

"I'm feeling these peoples pain on American Idol tonight!  Last year, I was the lost puppy dog that no one wanted in their group!  Hahah"

And that's my Recap. Keep on Rocking AI . . .

  1. Great, the K is back! I had Ty AND my son watching last night and then --- WHAT? Wait until next time to see the group's perform! I should've been a veteran and known this was going to happen. Seems to be more drama and better talent this year, no?

  2. Hi M, I know what you mean. I thought for sure the groups were going to start last night, but all we got was the drama and one cop searching for a group to sing Joy to the World. :) I'm so bad but I just had to comment. She's the opposite personality of Scotty when he was trying to find a group last year.

I hope my audition standouts to okay. i think one of them may have been cut already but not positive. I'm going to have to start recording the shows now so I can write my reviews. :)

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Hi Kathy, I wondered if you were going to blog Idol! I have only watched a bit of a few episodes and wasn't able to watch Hollywood week this week. I didn't get into the X Factor and haven't watched The Voice yet. I'd glad to hear that there's some good talent on Idol and am going to try to watch this week.

  4. Me again. I was in the library this week and saw a book called "Prince: Inside the Music and the Masks" by Ronin Ro.

You might have already read it but I thought I'd tell you about it in case you haven't!

  5. Hi Annie, cool :) tip on the book. I had not read the book. I will have to swing by B&N to check it out. Thanks so much for the FYI

I have been watching the AI auditions but have been uninspired to blog about it until now. I'm always surprised that each year they do find some diamonds in the rough. There's great talent in both the girls and boys so it should be a fun season I think.

Sadly I was a bit disappointed with the X-Factor. In fact, Paula, Nicole and the host were all fired no doubt due to poor ratings. Like you I didn't get into the show at all. The Voice is pretty good. I like the format and the talent is great too. I will watch both shows, but my heart belongs to AI to blog and write about. :)

Thanks so much for your comments and the tip on the book. Have a great weekend.
