American Idol Season 13: Top 12 Brings it Home

So far, I'm glad that my favorites are still in the running but from this point on, having just one bad performance can send an Idol home.

Tonight the theme is songs that remind the idols of "Home". Here's the song list for tonight's performances

Jena Irene, Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall
Alex Preston, I Don't Want to Be by Gavin DeGraw
Jessica Meuse, White Flag by Dido
Dexter Roberts, Lucky Man by Montgomery Gentry
Emily Piriz, Let's Get Loud by Jennifer Lopez
Caleb Johnson, Working Men by Rush
MK Nobilette, Drops of Jupiter by Train
CJ Harris, Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer
Sam Woolf, Just One by Blind Pilot
Malaya Watson, Take Me To The King by Tamela Mann
Ben Briley, Turning Home by David Nail
Majesty Rose York, Fix You by Coldplay

Overall, I think the performances were pretty good and I think the judges are giving some very good critique and observations.  I have to say some of the best observations are coming from Harry.  He hit it on the nose when he said that Caleb is good but predictable.  I also agree when he says that Sam needs more variation in his performances.

Here are my top three most liked performances:
Dexter Roberts
Malaya Watson
Majesty Rose

And here are my least liked performances:
Ben Briley
Emily Piriz
Caleb Johnson (It wasn't that he gave a bad performance, just a predictable one)

And here's how I voted:

And that's my Recap. Keep on Rocking AI . . .

  1. Hi Kathy, sorry if this is a duplicate comment, I tried to leave one earlier but I don't think it went thru.

I'm glad to read your recap because I didn't get home in time to watch last night. Really glad that Malala had a good night after being the bottom last week. And of course, Majesty!

I'm looking forward to catching up with the recap tonight. I agree with you about Harry Connick's comments - he's a great judge.

Hope you are having a great day (and I hope this comment makes it thru)!

    1. Hi Annie, Thanks so much for your comments. It went through okay and there wasn't even any duplicate that I saw.

I think Harry is being looked at as the tougher judge. I think his nick name is Hatchet Harry. But he's not rude like Simon, just to the point and hones which I like because some fans can be swayed by the judges comments and if they aren't honest it can affect the votes and get the wrong contestants eliminated.

I just snuck a peak at the results and found out that Emily was eliminated. It's sad to see her go but I do agree that she gave the weakest performance last night. I was afraid that MK was going to be in the bottom three again and she was. She needs to find the right song choices that suits her vocally or she could go early. Of course I'm disappointed that it was an all girl bottom 3. I thought Ben should've been in the bottom over Jena. But I'm glad at least that she and MK weren't eliminated.

I'm really happy that Majesty made it through and happy also for Malaya. I think that Majesty & Jessica are probably the most consistent and the strongest of the girls. They guys are going to be tough to beat this year I think. But if anyone can, I think Majesty can.

Have a great weekend. One more day before the weekend! :D

  2. Slight change of subject - did you see Prince last night on Arsenio? I missed it but a friend mentioned it on Facebook. You can find it on YouTube. Awesome!

    1. Oh my Gosh, Marta, thanks so much! I just found Arsenio's show with Prince. Here's the link in case Annie reads this comment because she's also a huge fan and I bet she'd enjoy watching his performances and the interview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYJgt4WeD2o

Love how he's brought back the fro too. I enjoyed his performances and his interview. Learned something new....he makes a great omelette. I also loved how he called that guys girlfriend who was cheating on him with her ex and break up with her. :)

Thanks so much for letting me know so I could find the video (as Youtube is quick to delete those). I was able to watch the whole show and enjoyed it a lot! It was just oozing a whole lot of Funk. You're right, Awesome!

      Have a great weekend.

  3. Thanks for the Prince link - very cool!

I was able to watch the results show and it seems that the right person went home. I hope that MK can rebound because I hope she will be in the competition longer. She's a very interesting performer.

Hatchet Harry! I hadn't heard that. Funny. Thanks again for the recap and hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Annie, you'll really enjoy that Prince Youtube on Asenio. That link gives the entire show commercial free too. :)

Yes, I think if MK doesn't pick the right song and perform her best next week, she's been in the bottom 3 twice and I think she stands the chance of going next. Hope she does better.

Yes, JLO was teasing him during the auditions with all the nicknames that were being given to him because of his critiques which are good and not rude but not coddling in his remarks either. I really that he's on the panel. So much better the Nikki & Mariah from last year.

      Have a great weekend too!
