PhotoHunt: Standing

A great way to go from one side of the famous Grand Canal in Venice, Italy to the other is by a transport called a Traghetto (which means Ferry in Italian).

Here is a Traghetto transporting a few standing customers to the Pescaria Traghetto stop.

  1. What a great photo of a unique part of Venice. I have to confess that I was sitting not standing when I took the traghetto...too chicken to stand up. Love that glimpse of the Rialto Market. Were you in the vaporetto when you took that shot? Have a great weekend!

  2. Hi Annie, thanks so much for liking my photo. Very cool that you rode it. I can't believe that in two weeks I never tried it. I thought about it but I was feeling too chicken to stand too. :)

Yes, I was on the vaporetto when I took this shot. For some reason I was so intrigued by the traghettos gliding left to right and right to left with such ease. I am so riding it next trip. Can't say whether I'll be brave enough to stand but I'm going on one for sure. :) I was just talking to someone this morning who will be in Paris over the summer and may do a trip to Italy. I told her she has to go to Venice! :)

    Have an awesome weekend too!

  3. Do those passengers stand all the way?? :O Or just when they're approaching a stop? If the former, do many people accidentally fall into the canals at Venice??? :D

  4. Great photo! Love your take on the theme this week. I need to start figuring out what photo I will use. Am stumped for some reason.

I haven't put it out on my blog yet, but I am going back to Italy this summer! Venice & Bologna. :) Can't wait!! Will write about it soon.

  5. Hi Kathy, I'm not sure i could stand with my vertigo.
I've been a bad blogger lately--lots on my plate, but hopefully things will come together in the next week or so. Enjoy your weekend, we are preparing for the movers.

  6. Hi everyone, thanks so much for your comments...

YTSL, Yes for those who choose to stand they pretty much stand the whole way. I'm not sure if anyone has ever fallen off one of them into the Grand Canal though. I just hope I won't be the first one to do so. :)

Girasoli, thanks for liking my photo. It's funny sometimes I have loads of photos and other times I'm stretching it. It's great fun. :) Looking forward to what you come up with. And Whoo Hoo on your trip to Venice and Bologna. I bet you'll have a lot of fun with your new camera during the trip. I'll be looking forward to reading more about your plans on your blog. Have a great time trip planning!

Maya, I didn't realize that you had vertigo. I read that you are in the middle of a big move, so I can only imagine the logistics and all. I look forward to reading all of your happenings when things begin to settle. Meanwhile I love reading your tweets. I'm still bumming that Rafa didn't move on. :( Good luck with the move.

thanks again everyone. Have a great weekend!

  7. Great interpretation for this week's theme. Standing up in a traghetto is to hard - I didn't stand up either. Ah... Venice. Have a great weekend.

  8. Hi Marta, it seems hard to me too and yet the local venetians seems to do it so easily. I love Venice!

    Have a great weekend too!

  9. Very cool -- I still haven't tried the traghetto to cross a canal, maybe this year I'll do it (and I'll try to stand, pretending I'm a real Venetian!)

  11. Hi Sandra, very cool that you'll ride the traghetto (maybe also riding it while standing). As the saying goes, do as the locals do. :)

Hi M, thanks for liking my photo for this week's theme. I'm glad that you liked it. :)

Thanks so much for your comments Sandra and M. Have a great day today!
