Hiking: Bluff Top Corridor Trail

It's been a while since I've been serious about training for more road races and hiking trips but I have decided to get back into training.   :)

Yesterday, we went on a fun hike to the Bluff Top Corridor Trail which stretches from  San Pedro (CA) into the Palos Verdes Penninsula and beyond.  It's a beautiful coastal trail and offers great views of the ocean and Catalina island.  The difficulty level ranges from easy to moderate.

Yesterday I got poked by a cactus and this morning I woke up to aching calves.  Still, today, a group of us will be tackling yet another South Bay trail that goes from top to bottom with no flat sections. Yikes! I have to keep reminding myself . . . "No Pain, No Gain!" I know, total cliché, but it's kind of true. He, he!

Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday today in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (Wikipedia), who once spoke of having a dream . . .

  1. Happy MLK Day to you too! Love your photos. I've never been poked by a cactus, ha ha. Looks like a fun hike.

  2. Hi Annie, LOL...I had never been poked by one too until yesterday. I missed judged how close I was to a bush when making my way down the hill. The Hike was fun, on today's hike I ran into my first rattler snake on the trail. I was so scared but the Happy Snapper in me had to try to get closer so I could snap a photo. :) His little rattler tail was sticking up although not rattling. Scary.

Thanks so much for liking my photos and have a Happy MLK day to you!

  3. Admire your dedication. And the scenery would be another incentive for me too.

  4. Hi M, thanks so much for your comments. Yes, the scenery is a wonderful motivator and it's great to get out and about. We're going to increase our hikes and work in some major hills. I can feel the pain already. :)

    Have a wonderful evening.

  5. This looks like such a beautiful hike -- but watch out for the cactus, being bitten by one has got to hurt!

  6. Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your comments. It is one of my favorite trails to hike and the convenience of not being too far to drive is a bonus. Yes being poked by those cactus thorns were not fun and pulling them out even more so. :)

  7. Hi Anne, :) I think the I miss Italy club is a big group. :) But it is Italy so very understandable to have so many members in it. My friend and I went to Tuscany after watching Under the Tuscan Sun and Siena seemed like one of several interesting town. I really loved it there. Such a beautiful setting. All is doing well these days and I hope all is well with you too. It's always so wonderful to see your blog posts and read your comments. Well, I actually don't have a facebook account, just my blog and twitter. Maybe someday I'll venture into checking out facebook... :)

Thanks so much for your comments Anne and have a wonderful week.

  8. Looks like a cool hike. Is this the one where you saw the rattler?

Interesting contrast to the hikes I have done in Hawaii. I haven't done any major hiking for a few years now. All my photos are pre-digital. I guess that means many years now!!

  9. Hi Girasoli, no this was a different trail closer to the coast. I saw the rattler on a trail little further up. Eek. I still cringe thinking about it. I'm not very good with reptiles, lizards, etc. My last major hike was Yosemite and that was a few years ago for me too, but I've had a couple of hikes on my bucket list for a long time and I need to start training so I can scratch that off my to do list. :)He he!

Thanks so much for your comments.
