PhotoHunt: Public

I love using Public Transportation (especially trains), while traveling in Europe.

I took this photo while I was traveling from Ronda to Malaga in Spain. And since my train left at 6:00 am in the morning I was treated to a very beautiful Spanish Sunrise while in route.

PhotoHunt: Hanging

“The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.” ~ Bertrand Russell

I took this photo while visiting the Retiro Park (Wikipedia) in Madrid, Spain. It was fun watching people and friends hanging out together, laughing, sharing, enjoying the beautiful weather and just having fun.

PhotoHunt: Triangle

This is no ordinary Triangle shaped road sign . . .

I took this photo near the small and quaint town of Arisaig. After exploring around the beach and sand dunes a bit, I drove further down the road where I walked along the very beautiful Silver Sands of Morar. The sand was so soft, I felt like I was walking on clouds. Scotland is so awesome!

As a long time Southern Californian, I had the best time driving the near empty roads in the Highlands. The views everywhere I drove was just gorgeous. No concrete freeways, no smog or tall high rises to block the beautiful sky and rather than being confronted by inpatient LA drivers rushing here and there I came across groups of sheep in no hurry to get anywhere and so neither was I.

My blog friends and fellow Slow Travelers have taught me the value in taking it slow while traveling so I can enjoy a more deeper experience with the cool places that I visit. Blog friend, Menehune, wrote a beautiful Post about "Hope" in her Synchronicity Blog. She said that "we need to live each day fully". I am trying to do that more and more in my life as well as in my travels. But every once in awhile it's nice to have a reminder of that valuable life philosophy from our friends. So today, this is no ordinary triangle shaped road sign.

Out with the old . . . In with the new

"If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies."
~ Author Unknown

Old . . .

New . . .

After my trip to Europe in 2005, thoughts and feelings about my experiences kept racing through my head and I needed an outlet. I finally decided to start writing things down by creating my Trekcapri website. It's a cool site, but I wanted something a little easier and more flexible to manage. It's taking forever to transfer my content from the old website to the new, but I keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the end . . .

Travel Thoughts: How people feel and what they say . . .

As you may have already guessed, I love creating YouTube videos especially of my trips. I recently read a few comments on my Youtube videos that made me feel pretty happy.

From my Hiking the Cinque Terre video:

My husband and I just booked this tour for our trip next week.. Im so excited! (I was excited for them)

Cincue Terre is the most beautiful place I been in my LIFE ^_^ Thanks 4 uploading

thanks for the video! going there next week!!

I spent five summers in the Cinque Terre. It's like reliving my childhood. Thank you.

I will never forget these five villages.

Wow. Made this hike in June 2004. AGreat hike with my favorite music. I don"t know why Ottmar works with this video, But it just does. Makes me want to hop a plane tomorrow. Awesome post,Gratz!

From my Churches in Venice: The Sacred Art video (inspired by AnnieNC's Churches In Venice blog and her wonderful Slow Travel Article, My Favorite-Lessor Known Churches in Venice). . .

Bellissimo!!

From my Venice in the Early Morning Hours and in the Evening video (inspired by Shannon's Venice Article-Page 42 about seeing Venice in the evening and early morning hours). . .

venice look gorgeous and relaxing

Alicia Keys is a bit too hip for this beautiful city, but hey, gustus non disputandem!!! (I actually love this comment. Although there are several ways to interpret the lyrics to Alicia's beautiful song, my decision to pair it with my Venice in the Early Morning and Evening Hours photos was made because I was trying to imagine what my life would be like without having had the pleasure of experiencing Venice. And I couldn't imagine that feeling.)

I once did a post about why I love to Slow Travel and the one word that I felt described my feelings the best was "JOY". It feels so cool to read from other travelers about their joys too! Thank you so much Slow Travel Founder, Pauline Kenny, for changing this part of my life.

And, now I end my travel thoughts today with Alicia who I think is one of the coolest and hippest artist around (next to the Cool One of course), as she takes us through Venice in the Early Morning and Evening Hours.

PhotoHunt: Future (Free)

This week TNChick gave us the Free-dom to interpret the theme the way we wanted to. And since I love free choice week ...

I took this photo of the all telling, all knowing Zoltar while on one of my long weekend rides to Venice Beach, California. For all you movie trivia fans, Zoltar turned little boy Tom Hanks into big adult Tom Hanks in the movie, Big.

Zoltar looks kind of cool and everything, but I prefer to let my passions and dreams dictate my future. :)

Hmmm, I wonder if Zoltar already knows who will win the World Soccer Championship game in South Africa this Sunday. All I can say is I hope that Zoltar can speak a little Spanish . . .Go EspaƱa!

Happy 4th of July

One of my favorite deserts is Flan but I have never tried making it . . . at least until now.

I got this recipe from Maya from her blog, The Many Walks of Maya. It is a recipe that was passed down to her by her mother.

It is a simple recipe that just looks so delicious. And to celebrate the 4th of July with friends I decided to make it for our potluck party. Thanks so much Maya for sharing your family recipe. I'm sure that we will all enjoy it tonight.

Edited to add that my Flan was a hit. It was very delicious and everyone loved it. Thank you so much Maya for sharing your Mom's delicious recipe.

PhotoHunt: Open

With a wide open mouth and a beer in hand, this cute statue in Toledo, Spain tries to lure passing travelers like myself to take a beer break from our sightseeing activities. Too bad I don't drink beer. I did (and do) however love Spanish Cava. I had fun with this week's theme. He, he!

So whether it's beer, wine, cava, prosecco, margarita or some other kind of refreshing drink that you enjoy . . . have a safe and awesome 4th of July Holiday weekend!

Btw, Saturday (7/3/10) @ 2:30 pm est, World Soccer Match Paraguay vs Spain . . . Go EspaƱa!
