Happy 4th of July

One of my favorite deserts is Flan but I have never tried making it . . . at least until now.

I got this recipe from Maya from her blog, The Many Walks of Maya. It is a recipe that was passed down to her by her mother.

It is a simple recipe that just looks so delicious. And to celebrate the 4th of July with friends I decided to make it for our potluck party. Thanks so much Maya for sharing your family recipe. I'm sure that we will all enjoy it tonight.

Edited to add that my Flan was a hit. It was very delicious and everyone loved it. Thank you so much Maya for sharing your Mom's delicious recipe.

  2. Looks delicious - I always thought flan a hard dish to make - sort of like souffles that always seem to fall, custard that never seems the right texture. Hope it was a hit for your potluck!

  4. Hi Everyone, thanks so much for your comments. Hope your 4th of July celebrations were wonderful.

Maya, the flan was very delicious and it was a hit at the party. Thanks again for sharing your Mom's recipe. I was a little worried when inverting it to my dish but one little tap at the bottom of the pan after using the knife along the side and it landed in one nice piece on the plate. It was very yummy.

M, thanks so much for your comments. I always thought it was something very hard to make too, but using Maya's mom's recipe it was pretty easy to make and it turned out pretty good for my first time making it. It was a definite hit at the potluck.

Nancy, it was as good as it looks too. :) Hope you had a great 4th of July celebration.

Thanks everyone and have a great day today.

  8. Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your comments.I was really thankful thta my inversion was a success. I didn't have much time to refrigerate it so I was nervous it would be too soft. Hope your transition back is going smoothly for you...

  9. Hi Annie, Maya, Menehune and Nancy. I have not idea what happened to your comments ? I know I'm not losing it. I could've sworn I published your comments and responded but they just disappeared on me.

Maybe by the same way they disappeared they'll return. :) How strange. Well, just wanted to say thank you for your comments where ever they may have gone. I think this happened once before and it is to strangest thing.
