The Summer of Color is upon us . . .

I have to confess that I am a bit color challenged especially when it comes to purple. I took this photo of a very attractive Life Guard Station at Hermosa Beach, California. I'm hoping there's some purple somewhere in there. I think there is. But if there isn't, Oops. :)

Travel Thoughts: What inspires you . . .

I saw this magazine at Costco the other day and couldn't resist buying it.

So what are the "Heaven on Earth", World's Must-See Destinations...I was impressed with how they came up with their list and with the photographs they took. So what was their criteria? They received a lot of input from people who had been on trips to dreamy places, from people tho had dreamed of going on dream trips and from people who had heard about people who had been on dream vacations. With a running theme like that, it's no wonder that this magazine cover jumped out at me as I attempted to pass it by. Even the girl at the check-out stand had to pause for a moment to read it, holding up the fairly long line behind me. I haven't had a chance yet to complete the read, but so far I am very intrigued and highly inspired.

And so there you have it. No matter where we are or what we are doing, we tend to find "inspiration" in sometimes the most unexpected and unusual places. For me on this faithful day, it was while checking out at the Costco Store.

Words of Advice to live by . . .

My Dad was probably one of the hardest working people I know and when I graduated from college and got my first job, he gave me these words of advice . . . "Always work hard and always be nice to your co-workers." When work starts to get the best of me I remember my Dad working at his second job, not once complaining how hard he was working or that he wished he had his weekends free.

Today on Father's Day I wanted to say thank you Dad for all of your sacrifices and for your wise advice. Although you are no longer here, your example and words continue to be great advice to live by . . . much love for that.

Edited to add: I just had to add another wonderful thing my dad passed on to me . . . his love for watching sports. He would've totally enjoyed watching the recent Lakers vs Celtics NBA Championship series and would've especially loved the final 5 minutes of Game 7! Thanks also Dad for teaching me about the joys of sports.

PhotoHunt: Six (6)

There are times in our lives when we can always use a little help finding our way . . .

I took this photo of a sign post pointing to six different sightseeing attractions during my visit to the City of Prague in the Czech Republic. I love traveling and one of the really cool things about it is being exposed and learning about the many different languages spoken around the world. My favorite hangout during this trip were Karlův most (aka Charles Bridge) and Staroměstské náměstí (aka Old Town Square). Don't they sound cool! And since they were my favorites I really didn't need the assistance of a sign post to show me the way . . . at least not on my third and fourth visit that is. :)

"Tag You're It" from Synchronicity

I've been tagged by blogging friend, Flygirl, Synchronicity, to play this fun blog game. And here's what I came up with...

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Europe

2. What is your favorite band/singer? The Cool One himself, Prince. I didn't have to think long for this answer. :)

3. If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be? I'd like to be President Obama, because I would love to have a hand in creating positive change even if it is only for a day . . . .

4. Concert or Broadway show? Concert

5. Do you have a theme song for your life? Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg has pretty much followed me my whole life and it is one of my all time favorite songs.

7. What's your favorite place to shop? Costco. Gotta love those one-stop stores.

8. What is your favorite movie? I traveled to Salzburg just to visit the places where this movie was filmed...
