Creating 2 1/2 Feet of Irresistible, Tubular . . . .

I received several e-mails from my dear blogging friends who were concerned after noticing my absence. I want to thank all of you for your concern and to apologize for causing you and others to worry.

For the past three weeks, it has been off the chart crazy at work. At some point, I thought of Obama's message and oddly enough I also thought of that cool movie "Kinky Boots". Inspiration can come from some pretty interesting places. After many hours, days, sleepless nights, meetings, reports and creative strategizing, we were successful in saving jobs. Failure was not an option. But the climb has just begun and there will be more challenges to face. So if I happen to go missing for awhile, I'm probably off creating 2 1/2 Feet of Irresistible, (Red and not Burgundy) Tubular ...

This weekend (first free weekend in a long while), I plan on reading all the cool, interesting, funny, inspirational, beautiful and entertaining posts that I've missed.

I haven't watched Idol these past three weeks and tonight I enjoyed Girl's Night. I thought that little video of Simon supposedly putting his hand on Ellen's leg was very funny. I have to say that I liked Ellen on the show. It was interesting to see whether any of my favorites in the auditions made it. Some did but more didn't. I loved Crystal Bowersox's performance and thought that Michelle Delamor's and Lilly Scott's performances followed closely behind. I can already sense my top 5 favorites in the group. Boy's night should be fun!

And that's my very brief Recap. Keep on Rocking AI...

  1. Glad you are back. Add me to the ones that were worried. But I'm glad to hear you were MIA for a very good reason. It is soo cool that you have been able to save jobs. In today's world - that is truely heroic. :)

  2. YEAH, Sheee's back! I needed Kathy's weekly AI dose. Love the "kinky boots" - good weekend to watch a comedy. Need a few laughs. Hope are now able to come up for air!

AI: Think this was a case of 'wrong song' for many of them. NOT for Crystal Bowersox and Lily. I also liked Siobhan (love her distinct voice) and Didi. Have to say I was a little disappointed with Katie and Lacey and Ashley. I'd be surprised if Janell (unfortunately) and Haeley made it to next week.

Great to have you back! m

  5. Hi Marta, thank you for your comments and I am really sorry to have worried you and everyone. I have to admit it was such a great feeling after all that work to have been successful but all the credit has to go to the employees themselves for hanging in there and for their hard work. I was just told today about another series of new meetings scheduled again starting next week...It's going to be a very tough year I think. But we can all only do our best.

Hi M, thanks so much for the welcome back...I think you will really love Kinky Boots a lot. On the AI front, I completely agree with you about the wrong song choice. Hope the guys learned from their mistakes for tonight. I also liked Siobhan and Didi and they are both in my top 5 along with Crystal, Lily and Michelle. I was pretty surprised with Ashley, Katie and Haeley because they were three of my favorites during audition. I have a feeling Lacey could go and I agree with you that Janell or Haeley could also go. Tonight should be fun.

Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your comments. Glad you like the Kinky Boots reference and its true that I used it as inspiration to think outside the box and creatively to find workable solutions. I think any organization or company that doesn't do that during these economic times will find it really challenging to move with the flow and survive. I appreciate your comments. I don't usually like to talk about work related things publically, but I think it helps to explain why I have been on hiatus and why I may be MIA periodically in the next few months. And since I can't handle alcohol very well, I've actually taken up running again just to deal with the stress.

Hi Donna in SF, you've asked a question about something that I have been wanted to avoid tinking about. But I think I do need to explain... Elizabeth is doing well. Unfortunately, she's back with her owners and not with me (at least temporarily). I have been trying to post about Elizabeth for a while now and just can't seem to bring myself to do it. But I've decided that I really need to . . . so look for my next post and it will explain what happened and why Elizabeth isn't with me right now. Thank you so much for asking about Elizabeth ...

Thanks again everyone. Have a wonderful evening.

  6. Kathy,
I am so glad to see you back and posting. It is so great that you managed to save jobs, hard work for sure.

I caught a quick glimpse of AI last night, it was the cute guy who sang Brain Adams and everyone was melting. I liked him, and even though I don't know the other competitors, I think he could win.

    Happy Thursday to you!

  7. Hi Candi, thank you, I appreciate your comments. We were successful this round and I really pray we are equally so in the next series of meetings.

I am totally excited that you watched AI! I so agree with your favorite too. Great song, great performance and very cute! The one judge, Kara, was definitely melting. And you'll be happy to know that he made it through. :)

I'm pretty bummed that one of our (Menehune's too) favorites, Ashley Rodriguez got booted. And I'm kind of surprised that Lacy didn't and Tim Urban. But I have a feeling your favorite will go far in the competition. I think he could win too.

Thanks so much for your comments and have a great weekend!

  11. I am very glad you are back. I have been worried about you. I hope things calm down a little for you now. Wow, even missing American Idol! Stress at work is the pits. I have been there now and then.

Kinky Boots! Loved seeing the preview again. Perfect movie to help relieve work stress!

By the way, are you still going to the GTG in San Diego?

  12. Kathy, like many of your other cyber friends I was also concerned about your absence. After a 12 day internet-free trip to NZ I was so relieved to see new comments on you blog show up on my e-mail!
I'm glad to hear that your temporary leave was due to you fighting for a good cause. Your video clip put Kinky Boots on my to look for list at the video club.
I was sorry to read about Elizabeth. As a sever allergy sufferer I know how bad they can make you feel. I pretty much medicate myself, and I have noted that depending on where I am not all medicines work the same for me. In Spain Claritin took care of everything, however, here in Australia I have had to try several different types of medication and I am now using Benedryl. I hope you find something that works for you.
    Take care of yourself.

  13. Hi Maya, thanks so much for your comments and welcome home from your trip to New Zealand. I am anxious to hearing more about your trip and looking at your photos.

I'm so sorry to have concerned you and my blogging friends. The work thing sort of snuck up on me. Most of the time I don't let things get to me but this really did. But we're continuing to work as hard as we can and staying positive.

I'm so sorry to hear that you also suffer from severe allergies. And it is really interesting what you said about Claritin working for you in Spain but not in Australia. I'm glad to hear that Benedryl is working for you now. I'm very lucky that Elizabeth's owners have been so understanding and patient. They encouraged me to take all the time that I needed. I visited her today and she looks happy so on that note I'm kind of relieved. I still miss her though. I think whatever the outcome is I want to do what's best for Elizabeth and her owners.

Thanks so much for your concern and welcome back. Have a great week.
