Saturday's PhotoHunting: Sport

Lately I've been thinking about the upcoming Fifa 2014 World Cup in Brazil which starts on June 12, 2014.  It had me thinking about how Soccer is a sport that is very popular around the world.  Heck, it's popularity is so widespread that it's even popular in the very small town of Machu Picchu Pueblo in Peru.

While waiting to use the ATM machine, I spotted this father, son and a very special star player engaged in a very spirited game of soccer. :)  This game had it all.

Great defense . . . .

Great break away speed . . .

And amazing control and strike capabilities . . .

It was a pretty entertaining and competitive game. :)

I'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Mother's Day!

  1. I love soccer! Have played it on pitches, fields, parks, etc. in Malaysia, Singapore, Britain, the US and Tanzania -- though, ya, not Hong Kong! ;)

    1. Hi YTSL, very cool! I didn't know you played. And how cool that you played in so many different countries. Curious why you haven't played in Hong Kong?

Thanks so much for your comments. Have a wonderful weekend.

    2. Re my not playing soccer in Hong Kong. There are two reasons: one is that there are few grass pitches around and since I enjoy doing things like slide tackles, that makes soccer here less fun for me; the other is that there are very few soccer players among my friends here -- and there don't seem to be all that many pick up games here (compared to elsewhere that I've been).

    3. Hi YTSL, slide tackles....sounds like you are a very experienced and competitive soccer player. :) I don't think there's many pick up games here too, but there are adult leagues and the recreational soccer fields are always busy on the weekends and even weekdays in the evening. i think it's almost as popular as beach volleyball. I've participated in some softball and volleyball league games but have not participated in any soccer leagues. I'm beginning to regret not trying soccer. My friends aren't into soccer, cycling or volleyball. They are more hikers and runners. I enjoy team sports equally, but it's been years since I've participated.

Thanks so much for responding to my question. Have a wonderful weekend.
