Saturday's PhotoHunting: Bridges

Bridges serve a very important purpose as they provide the ability for movement.

Whether it's Over . . .

Cyclist cruising over one of the many cool bridges in Amsterdam
 Under . . .

Traveling by gondola under one of the many bridges in beautiful Venice, Italy.
Or just hanging around on top to watch people going by . . .

According to Wikipedia, there are six main types of  Bridges, ". . . beam bridges, cantilever bridges, arch bridges, suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges and truss bridges.  I enjoyed learning about them and I think that I have actually been over all six types.

My favorite type of bridge to travel over and to photograph are the Arch bridges built over canals, my most favorite of which are in the beautiful cities of Venice and Amsterdam.  I'm also a big fan of the suspension bridges, my favorite being the very beautiful Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

And if you know me, you know that I am a dreamer, so I would add a 7th main type of bridge to Wikipedia's list and that is the kind of bridge that you can find in Ronda, Spain.

A bridge takes us somewhere
which is always on the other side.
However only some bridges
can take us beyond their structure and pillars,
where writers, dreamers and creators roam,
where images of dreams
and the imagination are built.
The new bridge in Ronda is this place.

  4. Hi girls, thanks so much for your comments....

LifeRamblings, you would love walking across the Ronda Bridge. I'm not afraid of heights, but even I had to hang on to the railing when peaking over. :)

Annie, I have been so travel fortunate and I count my blessings each day. That bridge in Ronda is amazing. I don't know how they ever built it. Have an awesome weekend too.
