ABC Wednesday: T is for . . .

~ Travel ~

For this post, I asked myself, what Travel means to me?

Travel is a lot about all the remarkable experiences I've had, the beautiful places I've seen, the history, art, food, architecture, all the famous monuments, and the amazing people I get to meet. It is about the big picture as well as the fine details and magical moments in my experiences.

But is there a deeper meaning behind why I travel and why I love it so. One of the benefits of live blogging about my trips is being able to revisit my thoughts when I wrote them.

In reading some of what I wrote in my posts, I have discovered that there is one constant theme.  Travel affects me in the way I think and how I feel. Travel is about being in the moment, it's about experiencing a little fear of the unknown and conquering those same fears, it's about being inspired, having faith, trust and appreciation for life. It's about seeing and experiencing this incredible world around me and being on this amazing journey of self discovery.

And  finally . . . with the exception of the long plane ride, travel makes me Happy.

  1. A great post, Kathy. I've never thought about it but you are right, travel makes us live in the moment. I feel lucky I've been able to travel as much I have! And I'm not a fan of the long plane ride either but it's worth it in the end.

Hope you had a nice long holiday weekend!

  2. Hi Annie, thanks so much for your comments and liking my post. I also feel lucky to have been able to travel as much as I have too. Sometimes it still feels unreal that I've seen so many great places. The long plane ride is almost unbearable to me, but you are right. It is so worth it in the end.

Hope you had a wonderful long holiday weekend too. Have a great week.

  3. I enjoyed this post. It gave me pause to think how fortunate we are to have the love of travel within us. You are right about living in the moment which would be a wonderful practice on a daily basis...if only. For me travel has been an awakening to a life much broader, more vivid and whole. Changing a line from a film I might say,"TRAVEL-you complete me!"

  4. Beautifully said, Kathy, and I agree completely! Hope you have a great weekend.

  5. I like traveling because seeing and experiencing new places, things, etc. helps keeps me from getting complacent -- and also makes me feel more connected with the rest of the world. :)

  6. Hi everyone, thanks so much for your comments....

Barb, very well said. I love that quote. So true.

Sandra, thanks so much. :) Have a great weekend too.

YTSL, so well put. I really hope to visit each continent. I love Europe, especially Italy and Spain but part of me wants to experience every part of the world. I really want to visit Asia (Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, India), Africa and Australia/New Zealand one day. So many places.

Thanks so much everyone. Have a great weekend.

It's me Trekcapri (aka Kathy). Thanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment.
