PhotoHunt: Painted

Last November while visiting Amsterdam, I took a tour to the nearby town of Delft to visit the Delft Pottery factory

This is a photo of one of the work stations in the factory and it is my featured photo for this week's theme.  Each piece is actually hand painted individually by skilled artists.

On the tour, we learned how the pottery is made.  They showed us the kiln  . . . .

. . .  and where the pottery is stored before they are decorated.

There were two artists working on a couple of pieces, while we were there.

Here are the beautiful results.

And I just couldn't resist buying a small vase from this beautiful collection as a souvenir. :)

  2. Chalk it to my art history education: mention of Delft got me immediately thinking of Vermeer and his paintings! :b

  3. Hi girls, thanks so much for your comments....

Annie, it was a cool tour and I enjoyed it a lot. And I love my beautiful vase. It has such bright and "happy" (I borrowed your Burano description) colors.

YTSL, very good! I had lunch in the cafe that is right there where the house where Vermeer lived. In fact there was a replica of his famous lady with the pearl earrings right by our table. :) I like his work and it was fun to see where he once lived. Fond memory of my trip last year. he, he.

Thanks again girls and have a wonderful weekend.
