PhotoHunt: Dirty

Do you ever wonder how those gorgeous Highland Cows in Scotland lay down?

Well, first they pick a nice grassy spot, then they lay their head down, then their front legs follow in a kneeling position, butt sticking straight up in the air.  Next, their back legs go down . . . and last but not least, their slightly "dirty" behinds . . .

I love sharing photos of my beautiful Highland cows and enjoy taking every opportunity to feature them, dirty behinds and all.

  1. I have to admit: your post got me wondering -- have you heard of cow tipping? I heard of it from a friend who was a veterinary student at Cambridge who indulged in it with other friends... ;S

  2. Haa-thought of the Highland cows first when I saw your post. Great idea for this week. I will be posting much later, I think. Hope you can enjoy a relaxing weekend. Weather is finally cooperating here on the East.

  4. Hi Everyone, thanks so much for your comments . . .

YTSL, I've not heard of that before. I'm not sure why I just love these beautiful cows but I do and I found this group behind one of the castles on the Isle of Sky and they were all so active, moving around a bit more than the first group I photographed. I was there for about an hour having a great time photographing this handsome group. One of the highlights of my trip. :)

M, you thought right. :) They are one of my favorite PhotoHunt subjects. This is my 4th photo for PH featuring them and probably won't be my last because I took a lot of photos of them while in Scotland. They are so cool. I just love them. I'm glad your weather is cooperating with you all on the East. Enjoy your weekend.

JDeQ, I'm so glad that I didn't disappoint you. :) Maybe I'll feature my cute little Scottish sheep on the next PH opportunity. :) Have a great weekend too.

Thanks so much everyone. Have a great weekend! I think Summer is finally here . . . Yay!

  5. Great post, Kathy! I also love your Highland cows. It is funny watching cows settle down on the ground....like seeing a big sofa fold itself up!

  6. Ciao Sandra, I've been enjoying your posts from Italy a lot. And it sounds like you're having a wonderful time in Italy. Thanks so much for taking time out of your vacation and stopping by. I'm glad you like my beautiful Highland cows. When he finally settled down, he did look very comfortable in that peaceful grassy area, like a nice comfy sofa.

I found it interesting how they lay down head first, but then again after a particularly difficult work day I can relate as I at times will dive head first on my bed to turn in for the night. :)

Keep on having fun in Italy . . .
