PhotoHunt: Road

Before my trip to Scotland in 2009, fellow Slow Traveler and blogging friend, AnnieNC (Churches in Venice) recommended an awesome movie called "Local Hero".  I was so inspired by the movie that I decided that I wanted to drive the very famous, Road to the Isles, which is where several scenes from the movie were filmed.  Thank you so much Annie for telling me about Local Hero.

I took this photo in Glenfinnan near the Glenfinnan Monument which is situated on the edge of Loch Shiel.

Scotland is so beautiful and the people are all so friendly.  I had such a wonderful time traveling there and I really hope that I will be able to return there someday.

And what would a Trekcapri trip down memory lane be without a "Driving the Road to the Isles" video. As you will notice in the video, the weather changed from moment to moment. It was the first time I have ever tried driving on the "left" side of the road and I have to say that I did pretty good. :)

  1. What beautiful Scottish roads. I'm so glad that you were able to visit some of the "Local Hero" locations. That is definitely one of my very favorite movies! I hope to visit Scotland someday soon though I'm not sure I'll be brave enough to drive on those roads!

    Have a great weekend.

  2. Hi Annie, thanks so much for mentioning Local Hero to me. I would not have had the Road to the Isles on my radar had you not mentioned it to me....

I hope you will get a chance to visit this beautiful part of Scotland .... And I think you will surprise yourself with how quickly you will pick up driving on the left side. I think what made it easier for me was starting out in the smaller towns rather than the big cities, so you could try that. The biggest challenge I had was those round a bouts :)

Have a great weekend too. I'm
in Vegas for the weekend with my B2V team mates. Hope we do well ....

  3. I've only visited Scotland once and that was back in 1980! Guess I should put it on my list of places to re-visit before too long... ;b
