PhotoHunt: Natural

The cool waters of a Natural Waterfall . . .

There are many types of natural waterfalls:  cascade, block, plunge, fan, horsetail and punchbowl.  Since it was October when I took this photo, I think this would be considered a baby plunge waterfall.  :)  Natural waterfalls are majestic, thunderous, very beautiful and I love seeing them.

And if you really love waterfalls, you have to check out the amazing  collection that are listed on this cool blog by Flexi Journey: "55 Magnificent Natural Waterfalls in the World".  I really need to put some of these places on my "must see list"!  Iguazu Falls is brilliant!  You know, I've always wanted to travel to Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru.

  1. What a stunning sight? Was it a cold day when you took that photo? Somehow, it looks it to me!

  2. Hi YTSL, thanks so much for your comments. Yes, it started out in the mid 30's, but by the afternoon it warmed up for us. This isn't my best waterfall shot (I almost put my Scotland Kilt Rock waterfall), but for some reason I really love this image. I think I've posted it somewhere before.:)

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Hi Annie, thanks so much for your comments. I didn't know there were different names too until I wrote this post. I found it interesting. So now I'll be able to identify the type of waterfalls I see when I happen to see them, fun. :) Oh the many fabulous things we learn on PhotoHunt. I love it!

    Have a great weekend too!

  5. Hi Kathy, hope your weekend is going well. I didn't realize that there are different types of waterfalls. Now I need to go through some of my waterfall photos and identify them.
We were at Iguazu several years ago and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it has kind of ruined other waterfalls for us.

  8. Hi everyone, thanks so much for liking my waterfalls...

Hi Maya, wow you are so fortunate to have seen the Igazu falls. that is an incredible work of nature. I hope to someday see it to. I actually looked at the few waterfall photos that I have and they do seem to be of the plunge variety, although I saw a couple of cascading. I think it is fun to know that different types of falls too and I wouldn't have know had it not been for PH week on Natural. :)

Hi M, welcome home! I wish I was like Ansel Adams. :) I actually took this photo with a Point and shoot camera and it turned out pretty good which goes to prove that sometime you really don't need a big DSLR camera to take a good shot. :)

Hi Jerry, thanks so much for liking my photo. It always makes me feel pretty good looking at this photo too.

Thanks everyone and hope you all have a great week.
