Out with the old . . . In with the new

Old . . .

New . . .

After my trip to Europe in 2005, thoughts and feelings about my experiences kept racing through my head and I needed an outlet. I finally decided to start writing things down by creating my Trekcapri website. It's a cool site, but I wanted something a little easier and more flexible to manage. It's taking forever to transfer my content from the old website to the new, but I keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the end . . .

  1. Hi M, might be a long anticipation at the rate I'm going . . . :-)

  2. I'm confused. Are you changing designs or moving your blog? Make sure to let us know so we don't lose you.

  3. You've got a lot of content to move so it's quite an undertaking. Good luck!

  4. Hi Maya, Girasoli and Annie, thanks so much for your comments...

Maya, I can't wait to finish too. :)

G, I'm changing my old Travel Website which is where I stored my trip reports and planning pages with all my resource links on. It is on a sitebuilder program through my internet company, verizon. But it isn't the best program to work with. I decided to transfer the content over to a Wordpress Web design. It does have a blog feature in the program but I really love my blog here on Blogger so I won't be moving from here. I like using the Blogger site for my daily blogging and while on the road. There is, however, an interesting plugin feature on Wordpress where you can put related blog posts into your static pages automatically, which is what I think I could use to help organize my trip planning entries into the correct pages so I don't have to worry about transferring content anymore, which is what I like. But I'm still trying to figure that part out. It's not finished yet but if you want to check it out here's the link: http://www.trekcapriblog.com/

I haven't revised my sidebar link to this site yet because it is not finished but once I do I'll revise the link on my side bar here so it'll go to my converted site. To be honest its a lot of work, but I really wanted to keep up with my travel tips as I gain more experience and I also wanted to save all of my trip planning pages (in case I want to return to anywhere. I'll have all the links and information without having to do any research. Talk about being optimistic, believing I'll be returning that is. :)

Hi Annie, thanks for the luck, I think I'll need it. I forgot how much I wrote on that site. The good news is I'm getting to correct my spelling and grammatical errors. :)

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  7. Hi Sandra, a lot of content is right. I can't believe how much too. Yikes. :)

Hi Eden, it's going to be pretty exciting to finish. :)

Thanks so much Eden and Sandra for your comments. Have a wonderful weekend.

  8. I checked out the new website, and it looks lovely. Will it have an RSS feed so we can follow it on Bloglines?

  9. Hi Nancy, thank you so much for your comments. Wordpress is so much neater and flexible than Sitebuilder so I am really liking it.

I think this is the Rss feed code that you can add to Bloglines:

    http://www.trekcapriblog.com/?feed=rss2

I'm still going to use my blogger as my main blog but will use the blog feature in this other site for my trip planning ideas. I have traditionally kept a blog and trip planning page when planning my trips to help me get organized and to save important links on. It's so much easier than writing things down. Plus I can always refer to it from anywhere that has interent connection. I've used it when I'm traveling to take down certain information. And plus it's great fun. :)

    Have a great day today.

  10. Wow, Kathy your new site looks like a fantastic resource! I love the travel thought for the month...prosecco in Venice makes me think of our dear friend Maria (My Place in the Sun) since she introduced to me prosecco!

I am contemplating a new blog myself, somehow my spiritual posts don't quite seem to fit the SlowTravel platform. But I love the look of my ST blog, and am so grateful for Kim's (and other's) help when I run into problems, so I never seem to get around to giving a move any serious thought!

  11. Hi Anne, thanks so much for your comments. That first evening and sunset in Venice is probably one of my most favorite travel memory. You are so lucky that you were able to get that introduction to prosecco from Maria and then being able to share that experience with her. I miss her ...

I love the look of your blog too and would have to agree with you that Kim is awesome. It's probably why I chose Wordpress. I just like the look of it.

I love reading your blog a lot Anne and I am very excited to be able to follow along on your journey. I just read your blog and watched your video. That was such a beautiful sermon. You are a natural and this is so what you were meant to do. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us. Take care.

Hope you had a wonderful vacation!

  12. Thank you so much for your kind words, Kathy. Leading worship on Sunday was so uplifting and affirming for me. I was kind of tense and nervous all week, but as soon as I got to the church, I felt so comfortable and like this was indeed meant to be!

  13. Hi Anne, watching the video it looks like you are so comfortable and full of confidence in what you are doing and why. Kudos to you for having such a wonderful calling. A former co-worker of mine went through a similar calling. He felt it so strongly that he retired early and now ministers full time at a local Calvary Church. It will be so inspiring to follow along on your journey. Best wishes to you and I look forward to reading more about your experiences on your blog.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
