Well, it's finally here! Whoo hoo! Sorry for posting so many entries at once, but I'm not sure that I will have enough time to post them before I leave on Thursday.
And what would a final post be without yet another video! :) Plus I really love this song!
Although I have a good idea of what I want to see and do in Scotland, this trip (like all of my future travels) still remains unwritten. And in just one more day I will start to fill the blank pages of this trip, sharing my experiences and personal impressions of beautiful Scotland!
Thank you so much to my family and friends, Slow Travel & Slow Europe and all of my Blogging friends for all of your comments, tips, advice and most importantly your wonderful encouragements! Reading your blogs is a constant inspiration to me and I couldn't have planned this trip without all of you.
Thanks again everyone for all of your well wishes. Hope you all have a happy and safe Holidays! I will hopefully try to post my first entry when I arrive in Glasgow on Friday...
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteHave a safe and wonderful trip!
Kathy, have a wonderful time! You've got so many interesting things on your agenda; I love Art Cars and seeing a parade of them would be a blast (and a great photo op). I bet it feels great to have the research and planning done, and now onto the adventure.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels and I'll be keeping an eye on your blog for your first post from Scotland.
Oh, that is so cool that you'll visit Talisker. That is one of the single malt whiskies that I've tried, and I liked it a lot. Strong but very good flavor. It will warm you up if you run into any cold weather!
Have fun!
Candi, thank you so much! I appreciate your well wishes.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, thanks so much also! I am really excited about being able to see some Holiday events in Edinburgh. Like in Venice and Salsburg and even Spain I left before the Holiday events kicked off so I missed everything.
I think the car art parade will be so cool to see. And the Choir in front of the Cathedral will be really beautiful. I'm looking forward to sipping my first Scotch at the Talisker distillery. It's really good to know that you like it, so maybe I will too.
It does feel great to have the itinerary done and I'm very excited to get on with the adventure. Thanks so much again Annie for your Local Hero Recommendation and also for posting your "sheep" postcard! Two great inspirations I drew from.
Thanks again girls, I hope to check in on everyone every chance I get and if I don't get a chance to say it, hope you all have a Thanksgiving Holiday.
Me again Annie, change of topic. Have you heard Adam's single "For your entertainment" yet? I did and I hate to say this because I really loved Adam on AI and have downloaded 4 songs from itunes that he sang on AI and listen to it all the time, but I'm not really liking that song! I liked that song he did for 2012 much better. In fact, I didn't like it so much that I didn't even download it. :( I am really hoping that the rest of his album will be better. The problem with the song (I think) is too much noise. He has a fabulous voice but they had all these electronic sounds mixed in that I thought were not necessary with a voice like his. Anyway, I was just curious if you've had a chance to listen to it and what your thoughts are. On the other hand I've already pre ordered Susan Boyle's first Album to debut 11/23/09. She has I dreamed a Dream on there as well Cry me a river, Day Dream Believer. Looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks again and have a great day today!
Kathy, Have a wonderful trip. How can it be any other way. You have poured your heart into this planning. I want details, details and photos. Buon Viaggio!
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, thanks so much for your comments. I will gladly do my best to post details and photos.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks again and have a great day today.
You're going to have such a fantastic time, Kathy! I can't wait to see your photos and hear all about your impressions!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the single-malt and the haggis (I mean, you have to try them -- just for the experience!)
Kathy, no I haven't heard that song yet; I've only heard the one from the movie that you linked me to. Sorry to hear that he's got a noisy one; I hope there are other good ones on the new album. I need to pre-order Susan Boyle; maybe I'll go to Amazon and do that now.
ReplyDeleteOh and I meant to tell you, I went to see "This Is It" at the movies this weekend. I really loved it. That show would have been so great and I'm glad we get to see these rehearsals. MJ was at the top of his game in this movie (great vocals and dancing). It'll be coming out in DVD too if you didn't get to see it at the theater.
Have a great trip!
Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your comments. I think I will really enjoy Scotland too and I will happily share my photos and impressions with you all. I can't wait to try the single malt at Talisker. Annie said she likes that brand so I can't wait. As for the Haggis....I'll try but I'm not sure I can do it. I did find out that there are some places that sell veggie Haggis so I will try to track those down so I can have my Scottish Haggis experience which I totally agree with you that I must have while there . . . it will be fun. Thanks again for all of your comments, tips and encouragements.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I do hope that the other songs will be better or I'm just going to be so disappointed.
That is so great that you saw This is It! I have not seen it yet but I have seen the trailer of it on i-Tunes. There were clips of him singing some of his hits and like you said from what I saw he still had the same great moves and vocals. Thanks so much for your review. I am looking forward to watching it too. I may even buy it from iTunes. It's so tragic that he ever got to go on tour. I bet it would have been a big success. I don't go to many concerts, but his tour came here, I would have paid to see him perform in person!
Thanks again for everything Annie!
Bon voyage!! It will be memorable one - filled with optimism and adventure, I'm sure...Can't wait to hear all about it..menehune
ReplyDeleteHi M, thanks so much for your comments and all of your encouragements during my trip planning.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be an interesting adventure too! :)
Thanks again and have a wonderful day today!
Kathy, I can't wait to see your trip in writing--and photos, of course!!! Take care and have a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteHi Maya, thanks so much for your well wishes! I also can't wait to see what I'm going to write and also my photos. :) I've been practicing like crazy but I know it will be so different when I get there and I hae to think on the fly. But I have several gigs of cards to take with me so I'm hoping there will be some good shots amongst them.
ReplyDeleteThanks again and have a great evening!
Have a wonderful and safe trip. I can't wait to read about your experiences. I love what you have planned and I'm certain you are going to have a wonderful trip. I hope you are able to find some great local music also. I love the scottish influence on the soundtrack to Local Hero. And I want to hear all about the area. I hope the food is also great.
ReplyDeleteGosh - I'm so excited you'd think I was going on the trip. :) Have a wonderful time.
Hi Marta, thank you so much for your comments and well wishes. I also want to thank you so much again for sending me your magazine about the food in Scotland. I have taken notes from it and now I am very prepared to order some of Scotland's best dishes thanks to you and your generousity. Also thanks so much for the heads up on the weather. I really wasn't packing to prepare for the unpredictable weather and it would've been a huge mistake to go unprepared. Costly too as I would've had to buy things there and take time out of my valuable vacation time to shop for these things. Now I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteI also love the Scottish influence in the soundtrack for Local Hero. I purchased the movie's soundtrack and downloaded it on to my ipod and have burned a CD for my car! It's very beautiful. I will try to seek out the music life while I am there. Thanks for reminding me of the importance of the music in Scotland. Might even post a PH this week. :)
Thanks again Marta for your wonderful tips and sharing your resources with me. Everyone has been so encouraging and helpful. I will come back with a truck load of reviews and will post a summary on ST when I return.
Great video!! Keep left!! :) Had to laugh at that one. Have a fabulous time and a safe trip. Enjoy!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Girasoli, :) I actually printed that sign on photo paper so it is nice and shiney and I am taping it to my dash board. It would be hard for me not to see it each time I hop in the car....
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments and your encouragements throughout my trip planning! Have a great evening and a happy holiday.
Hooray!!! Safe travels, my friend, hope your flight is uneventful. So, so, so exciting - will check back tomorrow in hopes of seeing a post from Scotland! :) I have a guidebook to Scotland that I bought once as wishful thinking, I must have a browse through it this evening to get a taste of what you'll be surrounded by for the next while!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, thanks so much for your comments and well wishes! I'm just finishing up some last mintues sorting and I'm on my way. I will definitely post once I get to Glasgow and I'll give you all my first impressions of Scotland! Maybe after my trip you might give that guidebook a workout and plan a trip there too. I find that most things that we do start with a dream and a wish ...
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all of your encouragements! Have a great day today!
I'm back and you're going.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, hope you have a great time!
I am making Amaretto flavored gelato. :)
I'm sorry I missed your getaway day, but I join the others in wishing you a wonderful trip!
