PhotoHunt: Artificial

Not everyone is a big fan of Artificial snow in Southern California!

See more PhotoHunters HERE!

  1. Very, very clever take on this theme -:) Have a wonderfully cool weekend! menehune

  2. Oh my gosh, that little face peeking out of the bag is just too cute! Great take on the theme - I'd forgotten all about artificial snow. So do you ever get real snow where you live? I'm guessing not but I'm not sure.

Hope you have a nice weekend!

  3. Hi M, glad you liked my take! :) I just couldn't resist posting it. Have a wonderful cool weekend too!

Hi Annie, isn't that just the cutest face. it doesn't snow where I live, but we do get snow in our local mountains and on a good snow year, it can be wonderful skiing conditions. Closest to me is about 2 hours away.

But when there is a warm spell, the resorts will make snow at night and hope that it lasts. This was a warm winter day, almost 70 degrees and the snow they made turned into rock solid ice. Not fun when falling, which is what I did a lot of on this trip because I had the bright idea of trying to learn to snow board. :)

    Have a nice weekend too!

  4. Me again, forgot to thank you girls for your comments. I was in such a rush to catch up with my favorite bloggers.... I prematurely hit the publish comment button. Sometimes I think my fingers have a mind of its own.

Thanks again for your comments and have a great weekend!

  5. What an adorable face! I don't blame the puppy for wanting to stay cozy and warm.

We too have snow about 2 hours away from Phoenix. And if we get a strong cold front, the mountains circling the valley get a good dusting. Really cool to see, from a distance.

Hope you have a fun weekend!

  6. Kathy,
I've never seen artificial snow, and forgot all about it, what a clever take on the theme! Love the photo, with the adorable face in the bag.

Off the topic, but I had to laugh at your comment on my blog re the penny slow machines! I actually have played them before, but it seems like it takes forever, and you are right the hardest part is waiting on that drink to arrive:) LOL.

  7. Great pic for this week - made me remember the ski run inside the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. :)

  8. I love that litle dog in the backpack! And it's hard to believe that's artificial snow, it looks pretty authentic!

  9. Great shot! Come to think of it the dog looks artificial too! LOL

  10. Good photo for the theme this week!

We do get a little bit of snow here in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains, but nothing that lasts too long usually.

  11. That is so cute. I love that little face. It sounds like the artificial snow is a lot like what we call 'Cascade Concrete'. It warms up, gets slushy and then hard freeze over night. It is like a skating rink and hard. Probably why I don't ski much. :) Great take on the theme and fun picture. Have a great weekend.

  12. Hi everyone, thanks so much for your comments. Glad you liked my photo selection for this week's theme.

Maria, an adorable face is right. And yes, his/her expression does seem to say I like it in this warm cozy doggie bag. :) I was sitting by the lodge recovering from all my falls and noticed this cute little face and I couldn't resist snapping his/her photo. How cool that you are able to see the snow capped mountains from your home. I bet it is very beautiful.

Candi, I love the adorable face in the bag too. I think artificial snow is heavier than the real stuff. Almost reminds me of shave ice. I prefer skiing on the real stuff but sometimes being at a lower elevation we don't get snow as much as the higher elevation ski resorts like Mammoth or Tahoe, so they have to make some snow. Glad you had a laugh at my comments. I usually play the pennies when I want to gamble but don't want to lose big! And the benefit is that I can usually last longer on the machines to get my free drinks. :) Every once in awhile when I can find a cheap table I'll get brave and go play some craps or pai gow. I can usually last a long while on those tables too. Mainly I just watch. :)

Leslie, glad you liked my pic this week. I think I remember a post you did once on your experience with that ski run inside a mall. Now that seems really cool too. And they can probably control the temperature better to keep the snow from melting. Cool!

Sandra, glad you loved the little dog. He/she was so cute. Actually some of the snow in this photo is real too. Probably most of the top layers on the runs were artificial because they just didn't have enough snow. I like the real stuff way better. :)

Jerry, LOL! You're too funny! Glad you liked the shot!

Nancy, glad you liked my photo for this week's theme. It must be cool when the snow level drops low enough to bring some snow in the foothills. Must be nice to get some snow like that even if it only lasts for a little while.

Marta, glad you liked my photo and take on the theme. And that is a very cute little face. Cascade Concrete is a funny term. On this particular trip I ended up taking a break at the lodge after several hard falls and it did fell like landing on concrete. Luckily while recovering, I saw this little cute face and was able to snap his/her photo.

Thanks again everyone for your comments. This was a fun theme! Have a great Sunday!

  13. Very clever take on the theme this week! I would have never thought of it. I even have fake snow pictures from our school snow day! Great job.

I hope you get a chance someday to experience powder snow like in Utah and Colorado. When I first learned to ski back east I skied on a lot of artificial snow. What a difference when I went to grad school in Colorado. I will never go back and do the fake snow skiing again.

    Cool picture!

  14. Hi Girasoli, glad you liked my photo. I remember your post on the artificial snow, that was cool.

I would love to one day travel to Utah or Colorado to ski. You are so right about preferring to ski on the real stuff versus man made stuff.

Thanks for your comments and have a great evening.
