AI Recap: Rocker Girl Alison leaves Idol, we're down to 3 . . .

Last night Rocker Girl Alison was sadly eliminated from American Idol! She did so great making it all the way to top 4 so Kudos to this 17 year old! I enjoyed watching her farewell video and although in tears, she did an awesome farewell performance. I have a feeling that with her talent (at only 17 years) she will have a great career in music. Ryan told her that he would play her first recorded song on the radio. That was nice. And I would definitely buy her CD!

So, top three is an all guys affair with Adam, Danny and Kris. Next week they will compete for top two and the grand and long anticipated finale will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 for the title of American Idol! And although my fav is still Adam, I think that this is anyone's competition to win since they are all talented!

Okay, now that I have all the niceties out of the way I'll fess up and say that IMHO I thought that Alison should have made it to top 3 based upon the previous night's performance. Sorry, but having a little whine session! :)

It was great to see Chris Daughtry (another great talent from Annie's North Carolina) perform last night. As Annie pointed out in her recap comments, Chris himself was eliminated in the same 4th spot in season 5. And being that Alison is eliminated in the same exact spot, it is interesting to read that according to Wikepedia "Daughtry is the fourth most successful American Idol contestant in the history of the show, in terms of record sales, behind Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Clay Aiken. He is the most successful contestant from his season and the most successful non-winner or non-runner up." A point made because I'm still whining over Alison's departure! All kidding aside I really do like all top three Idols and they all deserve to be in this spot so Kudos to all of them...finally done with my whine session.:)

BTW, I was really surprised to see Paula perform. She still has the moves!

And that's my Recap! Keep on Rocking AI . . .

  1. Great recap Kathy! I don't blame you for whining and it would have been nice for her to last at least another round. I wasn't shocked to see her go but I thought it might have been Kris instead.

But all along, we've all been saying that the guys were stronger than the girls this year so I guess it makes sense that the Final Three would be all guys. I'm betting on a Danny/Adam finale but who knows?

That is so interesting that Daughtry is the fourth most successful former Idol - I didn't know that! It was funny when they showed the old clip of his elimination - you could tell that Kat McPhee was completely shocked that she was safe. :) I enjoyed his performance.

And yes, Paula's got some moves for sure. But was it just me or wasn't it SO obvious that she wasn't really singing, she was lip synching?!?

So I was thinking that when AI is over for the year, maybe you can keep having a weekly music post and we can all keep talking. Sandra's comment about liking The Edge better than Slash made me think about this. Just an idea!

thanks for the recap and happy Thursday!

  2. Hi Annie, great recap comments. Thanks for understanding my whine session. :)

And you’re right, the guys are much stronger this season! It was cool that Alison made it as far as she did. I think she did the girls proud this year. It will be a very good final three competition. I really like all three a lot, Adam is my favorite but I also like Danny and Kris. I think it could definitely be an Adam/Danny finale, but I wouldn’t be shocked, if there was a Danny/Kris finale too! I'm flashing back to Melinda Doolittle again. They are all so talented in their own unique way and they all have such a great chance at winning. Of course my fav is still Adam. I thought it was cute how Danny poked a little fun of himself with his scream at the end. Good to see that he has a great sense of humor about it. And that is so funny that you mentioned the lip synch, because I was wondering the exact same thing. Paula’s voice sounded electronically altered and it didn’t sound live to me! Hmmmm . . . I was still entertained but I did wonder about that.

And that is a very cool idea about the weekly music discussion posts. I enjoy learning about everyone’s favorite genres and what they like to hear and also great movie soundtracks that they like. I would never have heard of Kinky Boot’s terrific soundtrack and movie if Sandra and Maria hadn’t had mentioned it in their comments. Or Ocean's that Barb mentioned as well. BTW, I got the Local Hero movie DVD and will be watching it tonight. Very excited to see it. I will try to control my Cool One enthusiasm though otherwise it might dominate the discussion… :) Great idea Annie!

Thanks for your great recap! Can’t wait for next week.

  3. Thanks for the recap Kathy. I missed the show again last night. I am sorry to hear that Allison was eliminated. But you know, at only 17, she still have a whole music career ahead of her.And as you pointed out, you don't have to win the title to be successful.

I can't believe that Paula performed last night, I will have to see if I can find it on Youtube. Good to know she still has the moves.

    Happy Thursday.

  5. Hi Candi, thanks so much for your comments! Yes, I was disappointed that Alison was eliminated but I totally agree with you that at only 17 she will have a wonderful career to look forward too. She's naturally gifted and talented and I have a good feeling that she is going to do very well!

Yes, I too was surprised that Paula performed and aside from the lip synch, she was really very good. She definitely still has the moves.

Thanks again & have a great weekend!

  6. Hi Annie, wow you got some great topic suggestions. It sounds like fun! Yes, I'm definitely getting the soundtrack for Local Heros. I really like Going Home a lot and will download that song first if it is available on i-Tunes! It should keep me in the Scottish mood! :)

Thanks again Annie! TGIF and have a fabulous weekend. Looking forward to your PH too!

  8. I’m trying to catch-up on my blog reading after a busy week. I saw both days on my DVR and kind of skimmed thru them. I felt bad that Allison got eliminated. I wanted to see her on the final three with Danny and Adam. I’ll be watching tomorrow for sure.

  9. Hi Maria, yes I was disappointed that Alison didn't make it to the final three, but was glad that Adam made it through. I actually like all top four contestants and feel that they all deserve to be where they are. I'm still pulling for Adam though! :)

I'm also looking forward to tomorrow nights top three performances!

Thanks again Maria! Hope you have a great evening!
