I promised blogging friend Maria that I would write a post when I finished uploading my Spain photos to Slow Travel! Kim was so nice to suggest that I put them into an album. I'm so glad that I did, because it allowed me to put them in the order that I traveled, which is pretty cool. There are some repeat photos from my live blog entries, but there are several new photos as well.
Slow Travel Spain 2008 Photo Album
And I just had to do it. A YouTube Slideshow video of my photos set to the music of one of my favorite YouTube videos that I found during my trip planning. The video and song reminded me a love story and it seemed like an appropriate selection seeing that I totally loved my visit to Spain!
And now on to trip 2009! :)
Awesome! You took so many amazing photos on your trip. So many blue skies! I love the interior of the Seville Cathedral, what an amazing place. You did such a great job organizing and writing captions - Slow Photos is lucky to have that wonderful Spain album on the site!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the YouTube too. It's beautiful. Great job and I enjoyed "visiting" Spain this morning!
Hi Annie, thanks so much for your kind comments. I enjoyed revisiting Spain again by creating my Album. I thought I would take the time to write some captions since I decided to be lazy and not do an actual trip report on Spain.
ReplyDeleteThe Cathedral was truly amazing and it was so hard taking photos in there because it was so high and also dark. The weather was so nice throughout my trip and I lucked out on a lot of blue skies!
And congrats again to your Tar Heels! Go Heels . . . Whoo hoo!
I'm still off today but I think I'll just spend the day goofing off. :)
Thanks again for your comments and have a great day Annie!
Kathy, you did amazing job with your photos and the slide show! Love the music; so appropriate. While looking at the photos I had a big sense of familiarity, it felt as we had traveled together. I enjoyed reading the captions and appreciate that you took the time to write each one of them. I know very well that it takes a good amount of time to make an album, sorting through the photos and adding that bit of information.
ReplyDeleteI could see that you had gorgeous weather, with blue skies showing up in almost every single photo.
Love all the shots but some are just amazing, like the one form the plaza de toros in Seville. Love the vivid colors of the blue skies against the yellow sand, the arches and the red bleachers. Great composition. You should enter this photo in a contest! What a spectacular view of Toledo from the other side of the river. And fun food shots! I could eat the Andalusian breakfast every single day.
The sunset in Cadiz is spectacular and your photo really captured the beauty of it. We didn’t go to Granada this time but your photos brought back many happy memories of our visit.
I also found the shrine outside the mosque. Isn’t gorgeous? It is called the Virgin of the Lanterns (La Virgen de los Faroles) for the lanterns that adorn the iron work on both sides of the shrine.
I really enjoyed immensely your photos and can’t wait to show them to my husband. I know he will enjoy them as much as I did.
Happy Tuesday!
Oh Kathy, I love your photos, love your Youtube, love your song. All very lovely. This does it for me, Spain has to be in my near future.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy for the wonderful photos, I am sure all great memories for you.
HI Maria, thank you so much for all of your kind comments. I love that music too. I also feel the same way when I read about your trip to Spain and also your Venice entries. It did take awhile to pick the photos but I think also to remember some of the details. It was very convenient that I had my laptop with me because I was able to download my photos daily and organize them by dates and cities so it made remembering much easier. Southern Spain (for Novmeber) still had excellent weather so I can see why other Europeans travel there for the winter. Gorgeous blue skies and warm weather.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you recommended that delicious Andalusian breakfast. In fact the first time that I sat at the counter and ordered my breakfast and saw other locals eating the same thing, I felt so proud of myself and it felt so good to be sitting there among them enjoying my breakfast as if I was one of them. True Slow Travel at its absolute finest! :)
I love that sunset from Cadiz a lot. When I stood there looking out at that beautiful sunset across the ocean it was so cool to think here I am on this side of the ocean looking out and I'm at this wonderful 3,000 year old city (the oldest in Westhern Europe), you just couldn't get any better than that . . . at least until my next wonderful moment in Spain!
The Alhambra in Granada and the City itself was just so incredible, so I can see why it brought back many happy memories for you when you also visited there.
I remember that great photo you took of this shrine. I should've written the name down on my caption. I think I'll edit my photo to add it so people will know. It is totally a gorgeous shrine!
I hope your husband enjoys the photos too! I'm so glad that you visited Spain also Maria, it really made me feel really good and comforted knowing that you had just been to some of the places that I visited. And the tips you shared was so helpful to me!
Thank you so much Maria for all of your nice comments. Have a great evening!
Hi Candi, thanks so much for your comments! It would be so cool if you and your husband can visit Spain too, because I think you would totally love it there especially with your interests. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the photos. And yes, I know that everytime I look at them I will be reminded of Beautiful Spain and all the wonderful people I met!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your comments and have a great evening!
I really love that slide show! It gives such a great overview of each of the places you visited. Who is that singing and do you know the name of the song. I wonder if I can find it on iTunes or Amazon? I keep saying this but someday I must get to Spain!
ReplyDeleteI started my 2007 trip report and haven't even finished that one yet. I feel like I am always behind these days but that is ok. I just watched Kinky Boots tonight. LOVED it!!! Also watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona the other day. Fun movie. Volver is in the mail. I am slowly catching up :) Any other movie recommendation?
Hi Girasoli, glad you liked the slide show. I have searched and searched for this song but I can't find it on iTunes. Maria watched it and liked the song too. I had to finally just record it off of the video and that's the only way I could add it to my video. For some reason I just fell in love with that song and knew that I would do a YouTube of my photos when I returned from my trip with it. I wanted it to convey my feelings and I think it did just that! I hope that one day you get a chance to visit Spain too. The country and people are just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI decided not to do a trip report this trip (although maybe I should have), because I did a lot of blogging about my trip and especially because I managed to do live blogging which is what I like to capture in my reports ... how I felt, the special moments, etc.
That is so cool that you watched Kinky Boots! Wasn't that just a really fun movie with a nice message to boot!:)
You beat me, I have not yet watched Vicky Christina Barcelona yet (shame on me). I heard that it is very good, so I'll have to watch that myself. You'll enjoy Volver. Maria also recommended Mar Adentro to me before my trip and I also enjoyed that movie too. The subject is on the serious side but done very well and the performances were brilliant and the scenery beautiful.
I haven't watched any other good movies but will be happy to pass any along that comes my way! :)
Thanks again for your comments and have a great day Girasoli. Hope you are feeling better.
Hi Kathy! That is such a beautiful slide show, so very well done and your photos are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAs I watched, I kept revising my list of the first city in Spain that I HAVE to visit! I would see a few slides and think, "OK I've GOT to see Cordoba first" but then your next city photos would appear and I'd have to revise my list (OK, maybe Ronda first, or Granada....)
Wonderful job, thanks so much for putting this together. I'm going now to look at the your Slow Photos.
Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your kind comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the slide show. I have wonderful memories of each city so I can understand you wanting to see each city as you watched the show. That's how I was when I first began to learn about Spain. You can't go wrong with any of these wonderful cities/towns.
ReplyDeleteWith your interests, Madrid with it's art, Cordoba for it's beauty, Seville for it's Flamenco, Ronda to stand on the New Bridge, Toledo to stroll through the streets, Granada definitely for the Alhambra and Malaga to see the Castillo de Gilbrafalo It's all good... :)
Thanks again for you nice comments. Have a great day Sandra!
