Stop and enjoy the music . . .

You know the saying "Stop and smell the Roses"? Well, in my previous Double take post, I mentioned that one of the things I enjoy doing when I travel is watching the many entertaining musicians who perform wherever I go. They are all wonderful and very talented musicians who can create a festive atmosphere for those of us who take the time to "stop and enjoy the music". Plus it also gives me a nice break from sightseeing! Even better when there is a nice bar/cafe in the near vicinity! :)

Here are some performers that I have been lucky to listen to in some of my past trips:

And from the widely entertaining movie, "Kinky Boots", you heard "Whatever Lola Wants" by Chiwetel Ejiofor. I just had to pick this song after reading Sandra's cool version of this song on my Kinky Boots Movie reviewHERE!

I hope this scheduled post works!

  1. There is the most wonderful musician who plays every morning near the big train station in Toronto. I enjoy stopping and listening for a bit before I race from the train to the subway. It is a beautiful way to start the day.

  5. Kathy, I'm so impressed with this! You are so creative and talented to make a video like this. The song is SO catchy and just goes perfectly with your collection of photos.

I love the old man with the harmonica. And it looked like the guy in Venice was on the Accademia brige, maybe?

There weren't as many street musicians in Venice this past December, probably due to the cold and the flooding. But I did sit down and listen to a guy outside Scuola San Rocco one afternoon. He was so good and had a cute little dog with him. And he played a James Taylor song which I loved since I'd just seen JT at that Obama benefit here in NC. I gave him a tip but now I'm wondering why I didn't take a photo!

Anyway, great job! I watched this three times in a row!

  6. Very cool editing, Kathy -- well done!

I love your photos/videos of street musicians, and the music was perfect.

What was with the guy and his overturned wok? That must have been wild!

    Thanks for this!

  7. Very cool collection of musicians! So many unique shots. How do you make the little subtitles for each photo? I enjoyed the music also :)

  8. Hi Annie, thanks so much for the comments. I love that song too! That old guy was so cute. He was just jamming on his harmonica and dancing during the Almudena Fiesta in Madrid, it was fun to watch him. I also didn’t see too many street musicians either last November. I think I only saw two the whole time I was there and this guy was one of them. And you’re totally correct. This guy was on top of the Accademia Bridge. So I stood there for a long while and just listened to him and looked at the Grand Canal. I liked him so much I bought his CD.

That was cool that the musician sang a James Taylor song. That must have been so cool listeing to one of his songs while in Venice Italy!

Thanks again for your comments Annie. Really glad you enjoyed it. Have a great week!

  9. Hi Sandra, glad you enjoyed the video. After you made that comment about that song, I couldn't stop thinking about it so when I was looking for the music background to my video for my post I thought why not! And somehow, it just sort of worked! :)

The guy with the wok was cool! It made this kind of mellow sound and it was definitely wild watching him play it.

Thanks for your comments Sandra! Have a great week!

  11. Hi Giraosli, thanks for your comments. Glad you liked the music and collection of photos. Those subtitles are Annotations that you can add on your YouTube video.

I like to use that instead of adding them to the photos because when watching the video you can either have the comment on or turn them off. It gives you the option. Pretty cool feature!

Thanks again and have a great day!

  12. Do you add them on after publishing it on YouTube or with some sort of software while making the video clip. I like that feature also and have seen it on a few clips now.

  13. Hi Girasoli, you add the annotations after your Youtube is uploaded and processed. The great thing about the feature is that it can be edited and you can control how long those comments are shown. Or you can just turn them off. It's pretty cool. It's a great feature when doing vacation type clips so you can add what the viewer is seeing. Pretty cool!

  14. Kathy,

I totally loved the video! And what a fantastic "soundtrack". I have to watch it again and show it to my husband. The guy dancing to give his tip was hilarious!

  16. Hi Maria, glad you enjoyed the video. And yes I love the soundtrack, espcially that song! I totally thought that tourist dancing up to drop his tip in the guitar case was so cool and entertaining too! He had everyone laughing even the musicians.

Thanks for your comments Maria and Have a great evening!

  17. Hi Anne, thanks for your comments. Yes I am really liking the shedule post feature a lot. I tested it a couple of times to make sure that I have it down I really didn't want to miss a blog day on a technical le oops! So far, so good. It's working like a charm.

Thanks again and have a great evening Anne!
