In the eyes of the beholder . . .

I recently attended another party to kick off the “official” B2V 2009 training where my DVD was once again featured. As a group of us were watching the video and re-living the 24 hour relay race, our team captain said “wow, there’s a lot of butt shots!” Okay, I’ll admit that I may have noticed it at first, but since I was making the video from a “creative” perspective, I just didn’t really notice at the time just how many there were in a row. So I added, but look at the gorgeous desert scenery with the beautiful mountains in the background? And she and the others said oh yeah, those mountains are cool! Then after a momentary pause, I remarked , well I can also see what you mean too! And then we all laughed . . .

Since I can’t show the actual video (because the file is too large to upload), here is a brief glimpse of the series of photos that we were looking at . . .

So, I guess the moral of this story is . . .it can be cool to look at things from the point of view of others. I think this is especially true when I travel to countries that are so different from my own. I am always delighted at what I discover!

Vote Obama-Biden on November 4, 2008!

  1. Did you run in this race? How long did it take to get to Vegas? My first thoughts when seeing the scenery is again how different it is from Hawaii. Funny how the butt shots were the first thing noticed!

  3. Hi Girasoli, thanks for your comments. I didn't get to actually run it last year because I'm not one of the faster runners. I served as an alternate runner and worked one of the support vehicles ready to take over if someone was injured. Since I was working the graveyard shift, guess who was praying that no one got injured! :) The race is 120 miles and 20 legs and it took us 21 hours to arrive in Vegas. It was a lot of fun, so I'm trying to make the team again for 2009. I'll probably end up an alternate again, which is cool too!

The desert scenery is beautiful in it's own unique way and definitely very different from Hawaii. And yes, it's funny what people notice first! :)

    Have a nice evening!

  4. Hi Leslie, thanks for your comments. Yes, the mountains are pretty awesome. And the sunrises and sunsets in the desert are also very beautiful.

    Have a great evening!

  5. Great photos and the story is funny! What does B2V stand for? That is cool that you made a DVD for them!

    Have a great week, Annie

  6. I live in the desert and those images are so familiar to me. It's amazing how such arid and dry landscape can be so beautiful.

That is one long race! Do the runners just do one leg or do they alternate?

  7. Hi Annie, thanks for your comments. B2V stands for Baker to Vegas, so the race starts in a small town called Baker and travels 120 miles and ends in Vegas. The DVD was fun to make and it's been played at 3 parties already! It's like nobody ever gets tired of it, because it's like reliving the whole race again. Maybe it's like me looking at my travel photos and videos. I never get tired of it because it takes me back to those wonderful experiences.

Have a great week too, Annie!

  8. Hi Maria, yes and the temperatures were so varied. It was hot during the day but 35 degrees and windy at night. Each runner does one leg and the legs vary from 3 to 8 miles in length and with a varied terrain, flat to all up or all down hill.

It's a fun race and I especially like the team work that is involved.

    Have a great evening Maria!
