Everyday People . . .

On this long weekend I was determined to finally finish organizing my favorite photos and with a bit of writer's inspiration I am now half way through my trip report.

This morning I decided to do one more FLICKER ALBUM that contains random photos of the people living in Venice and the surrounding towns of Ferrara and Ravenna. On this trip I really loved getting to see some of the everyday activities in Venice. Waterways and canals versus freeways and roads! Boats, Traghetto, and Vaporettos instead of cars, buses and trucks. I knew going on this trip that Venice is a unique and absolutely gorgeous city. When I arrived I also came to realize that the beauty of Venice can not only be seen in its grand palazzos, winding canals or bridges, but it can also be seen in its wonderful, hardworking, generous, friendly and helpful people. They are the "heart and soul" of Venice. And I feel so privilaged to have met some of them on my trip. It was an awesome experience for me that I will remember for the rest of my life. Or at least until my next visit there (he, he)!

If I can remember how to do it, I'm going to try to upload my favorite photos on Slow Travel.

  1. Awesome! I really enjoyed looking at those. I love the little dog on the blue boat! And that merry-go-round is so beautiful. Thanks for posting these.

  2. Thanks Annie, I love that little dog riding on his boat with his owner too! I was lucky that I had my camera out and ready when I saw them coming towards our vaporetto! So cute!

  3. Hi Kathy, I keep meaning to tell you that I am a big fan of Prince too - I just saw your Super Bowl post and it reminded me!

I went to a Super Bowl party last year and this woman brought her knitting with her and people were teasing her about it. Someone asked her who she was pulling for in the game, and she said "Prince." It cracked me up!

  4. Annie, that was a hilarious story! It's so cool that you're a big prince fan too! I have a Prince story also. A few years ago, me and my friend went to three of his concerts (LA, Vegas and San Diego). The one in San Diego was the best because we were only about 4 rows from the stage and had a great view of Prince. We were sitting next to these girls who were also huge fans and we started talking. Interestingly, one of them just got back from Athens as she was on the US relay team that won the gold medal in the Olympics. When Prince entered our whole section without even thinking about it, leaped in unison up onto our chairs! We stood up (although not on our chairs) the whole time. His music really appeals to so many people.

I have to tell my friend about your story!
