Saturday's PhotoHunting: With What do I like to Travel With

There was a time when I traveled with a few maps and a couple of guidebooks, but they did take up a lot of space and added weight to my luggage.

Now I rely heavily on my iTouch/Ipad to store my guidebooks, notes, an alarm and for my entertainment needs (ie., music, trashy novel, movies/shows).

I also travel with a laptop so I can download my photos with a back-up copy to an external hard drive.

With my passion for photography, I travel with not one, but two cameras.  I used to also travel with a Video camera as well, but since my DSLR has HD video capability I can now leave my video camera at home. :-D  Here I am with my DSLR in my hand and a small P&S hanging around my neck. My apologies for my  dorkie touristy moment.

And finally, I like to travel with a strong sense of adventure and exploration.

I took this photo from this speed boat traveling along the Iguazu river and through some of the smaller falls.  The experience is one of my most favorite travel moment.

  2. Hi Trekcapri --

How heavy is your computer? For myself, I still travel with guidebooks -- and pick up maps, etc. locally. Yes, am still minus a smart phone and ipad -- and I sometimes even go without a computer when traveling for pleasure! ;D

Also, having blogger friends in many countries I sometimes get help from them when I need directions. :)

  5. Hi girls, thanks so much for your comments.

Gattina, I have a GPS too, but only take it when I plan on driving. It is very helpful.

YTSL, the laptop in my photo was heavy, so since then I have purchased a much lighter travel one. I use it mainly to download my photos and duplicate it on an external hard drive and for blogging. Last year it was really helpful when planning day trips. Not all guidebooks are available on the ipad or kindle, so I may take at least one guide book and I also pick up a local map as I find them more useful then the ones I've purchased at the book store prior to my trip. I'm now getting into using google maps and street view a lot.

Mar, I love maps too and planning my trips using them. I love google maps and street view and use it a lot now days. Thanks for liking my Iguazu shot. What a blast that was.

ECL, I've used my laptop on trips to research and purchase day trip tickets. And I also blog and have picked up great recommendations on the fly from my blog posts, so I enjoy having my laptop with me. I'm going on a trip next year which will force me to leave everything behind except for my camera and iTouch. Yikes. :)

Thanks everyone for your comments. Have a great weekend.

  7. Hi Jackie/Jake, thanks so much for your comments. I sometimes make a third copy of my photos. :) There's also several apps that I have on my iTouch that makes traveling so much easier. I once forgot my train ticket but had it on my itouch and they accepted it. :)

    Have a wonderful weekend.
