Happy Mother's Day

One day, I needed a change.
And so I made a trip to the hairdressers.
I decided to get a perm,
thinking it would be cool.

It didn't go very well.
My hair was too thick,
and my perm was out of control.
I cried and cried.

I remember this little episode like it was yesterday.  My mom was so supportive.  She told me it looked good on me (even though I didn't think it did).  She said but if I didn't like it, perms are temporary and my hair will straighten out.  And eventually it did.

Here's one of my favorite photos of me, my mom and my perm! :)

Thank you so much mom for being there in both the good and bad times throughout my life.  You wiped away my tears, you made me laugh, you inspired and gave me encouragement to do whatever I set my mind on doing.  You also taught me to always try to look at the positives rather than the negatives and to meet challenges I may face with grace and a bit of humor. :)  Although you are no longer here, you continue to be such a great role model for me and sis.

Much love to you on your special day.
Happy Mother's Day Mom!

And a Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

I want to give a huge shout out to my niece, Tristin.  Congratulations on the birth of your son.  Logan arrived last Wednesday at 8lbs and 14 oz.  He is healthy and so adorable.

Welcome Logan!

  1. A beautiful tribute to your Mom, Kathy! And lovely photos. I pestered my Mom once to give me a home perm. Fortunately, there is no photographic evidence!

  2. Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your comments. And you were very smart not to have any photographic evidence. :)

I was just thinking of you today. I hope that you're doing well these days. thanks so much for stopping by. I just read your latest posts and really enjoyed them. I told my sister about Leticia's place and her cooking classes and when we finally get to take a trip to Italy together, we definitely want to stay with her and take her class. She sounds wonderful.

    Have a wonderful week.

  4. Hi Annie, :) looks like we've all had that bad perm episode in our lives. It's funny how big some problems were to us as we were growing up. Seem so minor now looking back. Thanks so much for liking my tribute and photo. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

    Have a great week.
