I was so thrilled to see my two favorite contestants in tonight's Idol finale. Kree Harrison and Candice Glover performed 3 songs each: A song picked by the show's creator, Simon Fuller, an original song which if they win will be their first single recording and finally their pick for their favorite song that they performed earlier in the compeition.
To be honest, I think Kree and Candice are the best two singers of the season and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the best go up against the other best in tonight's finale show.
And here's how tonight's performances went:
Candice Glover sings Adele's Chasing Pavements; her coronation song, I Am Beautiful; and her favorite song performed in the season, Ben E. King's, I (Who Have Nothing). I enjoyed all three performances especially her coronation song. Now, I loved her first performance of Ben E. King's song and was pleasantly surprised when she changed it up and made it just as good the second time around. She is so talented.
Kree Harrison sings Sarah McLachlan's Angel; her coronation song, All Cried Out; and her favorite song performed in the season, Patty Griffin's Up to the Mountain. I also enjoyed all three of Kree's performances. I loved the song that she selected as her favorite performance of the season. She is also very talented.
As far as I'm concerned both Kree and Candice are the top two Idols of the season and I think they will have very successful music careers.
But as you all know, there can only be one Idol and based on tonight's performances, I have to cast all 50 of my American Idol App votes to:
And that's my final Recap for Season 12. Keep on Rocking AI . . .
Woo hoo! I am so happy for Candice! And happy to see a female singer win again too! I hope you enjoyed the finale - great to see Adam Lambert! And bittersweet to say goodbye to Randy J. Gonna be very interesting to see the next direction Idol goes - will it be a whole new judge panel?
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, yes it was so awesome to see Candice and a female win! It's about time. I enjoyed the show a lot. Loved seeing Adam Lambert and I really enjoyed the duet with Candice and Jennifer Hudson. Hard to believe she was once an Idol contestant (who didn't win to boot). I remember when Candice got cut after a stellar performance with Jessica Sanchez and Deandre Brackensick. I was surprised that she didn't go through along with them. And now here she is an Idol Winner. Whoo Hoo! I like Kree too. they'll both be successful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, it was bittersweet to say goodbye to Randy. It's going to be strange to see Idol without him. I think they need to change Nikki and Mariah. It would be good to change Keith too, but he's better than Nikki and Mariah. It definitely will be interesting what direction they will take. Maybe, it's just time to retire the show, especially if ratings continue to drop next season.
I have to say that the Finale show was outstanding. Loved the performances by Aretha, Jessie J, Adam, Frankie Valley and cool to see Keith and Randy up there. I was surprised that Nikki didn't perform.
Thanks so much for sharing your recaps along with me Annie. It was fun. Have a great weekend.
Oh yeah, Aretha was awesome! And I loved the Frankie Valli medley too - my parents were big fans of him and those songs bring back a lot of memories.
ReplyDeleteI too wonder if Idol has run its course and it's time to retire. I have a feeling they will try to keep it going for a while longer but it does seem to have lost a lot of its magic. Even though they do still find some amazing unknown talent. I almost wonder if they should make the season shorter, skip some of those audition shows?
Thanks for keeping your recaps going - it's fun to compare notes and talk about it all. You have a great weekend too!
Hi Annie, you're so right. I think the talent is there and that's such a great point to shorten the season without the auditions. I think that would definitely help to keep the fans more interested.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
