American Idol Season 12: Top Four Sing To Move On

Tonight, the top 4 "female" contestants performed three songs: a song of their choice, a one hit wonder song (voted by fans) and a duet.

Here's how I rated tonight's performances:

Candice Glover sings Emotion and Find Your Love. I thought she did a wonderful job given the fact that she was suffering from a bad cold.

Kree Harrison sings A Whiter Shade of Pale and It Hurt So Bad. I thought the judges were a little too critical on Kree. Her vocals are so superior to both Angie and Amber and yet they received rave reviews from the judges and not Kree.  Maybe her song choices didn't have enough pizazz for them.  But hey, I would pick superior vocals over pizazz any day.

Angie Miller sings Cry Me a River and Who You Are.  For me, Angie doesn't have the best vocals in this top 4 group, but I loved her performance of Who You Are.

Amber Holcomb sings MacArthur Park and The Power of Love.  Amber has been my number 3 in this group, but Angie edged her out with her first performance.

And for the duet performances, Amber and Kree sing Adele's Rumor Has it and Candice Glover and Angie Miller sing Stay.  I loved Candice and Angie's performance the most.

And here's how I voted on my AI App.

And that's my Recap. Keep on Rocking AI . . .

  1. Hi Kathy, what a surprise last night! So glad they didn't send anyone home. I was shocked that Candace and Amber were the bottom too. I'm not that crazy about Angie, I like Kree a lot but I think Candace deserves to win. It'll be interesting to see what happens next week - I think they all need to pick up the pace and not sing so many ballads, ha ha.

Thanks for your recap - hope you are having a great week!

  2. Hi Annie, Candice is my first choice too and Kree my second and Amber my 3rd. However, the judges really like Angie and with her strong fan base, I think she could sneak into the top 3. Like you say, they need to step up their game and pull an Adam Lambert and take a song and just blow it out of the water with great vocals and creativity. Candice needs another one of her past performances and Kree needs to maybe find better song choices that the audience can relate to a bit more, especially the younger audiences. I want either Candice or Kree to win because they are the best singers. I'm hoping they do really well next week.

Loved seeing Stephano again. I actually liked his performance better than Lee. And I loved the reaction of Candice and the girls when Drake made a surprise appearance. So cute.

Thanks for your recap too. Have a great weekend.

  3. You are exactly right....they all need an Adam Lambert moment! I love that!

Kree is interesting - the judges keep calling her country but she really is more than that. Not what I think of as a typical country singer like Carrie Underwood. I hope she doesn't fall between the cracks because she isn't easy to categorize.

    Agree about Stephano and Lee!

I'm still not so sure about this judge's panel but have to admit they are a weird and interesting bunch. Some of their critiques are SO long though! Remember how Simon was so short and sweet (and often mean)?!?

Hope you are having a great weekend!

  4. Hi Annie, I'm also recapping with an old co-worker of mine from when I lived in Sacramento going to school. She is a big AI fan too and she does not like Angie. Candice is her Number 1 and Kree second. Same as our choices.

We think all the young girl fans who used to vote for the guys are now voting for Anige because she's young and kind of showey. Song choice for Candice & Kree has to be better next week and cater a bit more to them. I think with the right song choice they can do it and still keep it their own. Yes, they are in desperate need of that Adam Lambert Moment and more pizazz.

I'm not a fan of the judges this year. Nicki can be off the wall, Mariah (I'm a huge fan) is too long winded and although Keith is nice he doesn't have the flare and unique personality as Steven Tyler did. I miss JLO and Steven. I agree, Simon was pretty short, sweet and blunt. Although I didn't agree with some of his comments, I often sided with his critique of the performances. I've been sort of in disagreement a lot with the judges this year. They love Amber and Angie a lot, but I don't think they have done that great. And ratings are apparently really low this season, so we may be seeing the show come to an end soon. :(

Thanks so much for your recap Annie. Have a great weekend.

  5. I'm just popping in to see what you have been up to!
I agree with American Idol... the talent is fab, but the judges have just ruined it for me. We usually record it so we can fast forward through the bla-bla-bla. I miss Steven!

  6. Hi Sandi, thank you so much for your comments and for popping in. I miss Steven too! And that is a great idea to record it so you can glaze over those boring bla-bla-bla sections. :) I hadn't realized that you are an AI fan too. That's so cool! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this season. I agree, the talent continues to be very good this season and the judges are the ones that have been subpar. :)

    Have a wonderful weekend.
