Saturday's PhotoHunting: Parks

In Madrid, Spain, Parque del Buen Retiro which means "Park of the Pleasant Retreat"is one of the most beautiful parks that I've seen while traveling.  I think this translation accurately describes this park because it really is a place where locals (and tourists) go to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

If you're not chilling on the steps just below the Monument to Alfonso VII . . .

. . . you're rowing along on the lake.

If you're not sitting at the outdoor cafe drinking 1 or 2 glasses of your favorite brew . . .

. . . you're sitting on the steps playing guitar . . .

. . . or hanging out on the grass and having a good time with friends.

Yes, I would definitely say that this beautiful park is a place where you can go to have a "Pleasant Retreat" no matter what your form of pleasure may be.

    1. Hi YTSL, totally agree. :) I was really impressed how crowded that park was. And I mean there were people lining up to go on the boats, the steps and cafes and grassy areas were just full of people just hanging out and having a great day. I found myself taking a sightseeing break myself just to sit and enjoy the views...and snap some photos too. :)

Thanks so much for your comments. Have a great weekend.

  2. Our beautiful parks in Singapore are under-utilized! The kids are busy playing online games and their parents are hard at work. :P

Gosh, look at how crowded Parque del Buen Retiro is!

  5. Hi girls, thanks so much for your comments.

ECL, it's wonderful to have such parks like this in the middle of the City. And the locals really seem to utilize it very much. I think it's great for family time whenever parents can find some spare time. I saw a bit of this in Amsterdam as well which is really cool.

Gattina, yes this is a lovely park and I actaully enjoyed my short touristy time there myself just because it was cool to see everyone there having such a great time.

Annie, I love that translation too. Thanks for liking my photos. It was a really nice day too so there was great lighting. Hope you had a nice weekiend too.

Thank you girls for your comments. Have a wonderful week.
