Saturday's PhotoHunting: Drinks

Kamikaze, Bahama Mama, Between the Sheets, Purple Hooter, White Russian, Zombie, B-52 and Alabama Slammer are a few examples of some interesting and fun names for cocktail drinks.

You can now add . . . . Purple Haze, Naked Colada, Up All Night, Strawberry Butterfly and Mango Kush . . . from the Numb Bar at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.   These are slushy frozen cocktail drinks guaranteed to give you a sweet little buzz, especially if you're not a big drinker like I am.  :)

As 2011 comes to an end and everyone is gearing up plans to ring in the New Year, you might consider one of the many cocktail drinks to choose from on About.com (recipes included) for your celebration.

Have fun toasting in the New Year with family and friends, but remember to be safe and don't drink and drive.  Have a designated driver, call a friend or a family member to pick you up or take a taxi if you've had even one of those Naked Coladas. It will be the first wise decision that you will make in 2012.

I've been a little absent from the Blogshpere this past week while my sister has been in town.  And now I am really looking forward to catching up with everyone before the year is up. :)

Wishing everyone, especially my family and friends, all of my blogging friends and fellow Slow Travelers and PhotoHunters a very Happy, Safe and Healthy New Year!

Hi Kathy, that is such a cool looking photo! I hope that you are having a wonderful holiday in Las Vegas and lots of fun with your sister. I'm skipping this week's PhotoHunt but hope to get back in the groove in the new year.

    Happy Happy 2012!

*Sorry Annie, but while editing my comment I accidently deleted your published comment. :( Luckily I was able to retrieve it and I am copying it here. :)

  2. Hi Annie, thanks so much for liking my photo.

I had such a wonderful visit with my sister. While walking around the casino, I saw this bar and told them that I think it would be great for PH this week and snap! :)

I'm looking forwad to seeing your PH next year. Can't believe that a whole year has goe by again.

Wishing you a very Happy, Safe and Healthy New Year!

  3. There's a drink called -- I kid you not -- Slow Long Screw Against the Wall. It's supposed to include ingredients like sloe gin and the stuff that goes into a Long Island Iced Tea, Screwdriver and Harvey Wallbanger. No way am I ever ordering it -- it sounds too potent as well as... like one is asking for sex from the waiter/waitress! ;O

  4. Hi YTSL, LOL! LOL! That is one potent drink but with a name like that ... and even if it wasn't that potent I would be too embarrassed to order it. He, he...

Thanks so much for stopping by on the last day of 2011! Wishing you and your family a very Happy, Safe and Healthy New Year.

  5. Happy New Year, Kathy! I'm pretty sure I know which drink would be your favourite (naturally; the purple haze!)

I'm glad you're having a great time with your sister; someday, I'll get to Vegas.

I hope you have a wonderful year with lots of fun and travel and more great photos!

  6. Hi Sandra, Happy New Year to you too. Spending time with my sis was great. We laughed so much.

I'm really enjoying your blog and am looking forward to more Rome adventures and explorations in 2012! Have an aweseome New Year's Eve celebration tonight.

And you know me so well! How could I not have honored his (Purpleness) with a Purple Haze drink. The Naked Colada was good too. :) Hope you get a chance to travel to Vegas in near future. Would make for a very cool gtg being so close to some West coast travelers.

Wishing you all the best in 2012!

  7. Wow ! that's a big choice of drinks ! There is also one called "Sex on the beach" and is very innocently orange juice, and karkade tea, with a little wodka.

  11. Hi Luna & Gen, thanks so much for your comments....

Luna, Gattina also mentioned Sex on the Beach and it sounds like a milder drink than the one YTSL mentioned. :) I'm afraid I didn't celebrate New Years with either. :)

Gen, I'm glad you like my photo. With the colorful lights and creative names it caught my attention while walking around the casino and that's hard to do with all the money and slots going off around me. :)

Luna & Gen, wishing you a very Happy, Safe and Healthy New Year.

  12. Fun post, Kathy! LOL on all the drink names. I have heard a few others but...I couldn't post them in public without blushing! There was a shooter bar at our campground last year for Canada Day. Mark (my friend Valerie's hubby) and I wandered down and decided to have one. We bought our drink tickets and then went over to look at the list of shooters.
    Mark said "just surprise me."
Cindy at the bar said "just tell me which one do you want."
Mark answered "uh no, you'll have to surprise me...I'm not saying any of those names out loud!" I myself ordered the one that began with O and ended with rgasm. LOL!! (Wasn't a good choice...had cream in it, which is never a good mix for me when comes to alcohol. Oh well, live and learn!)

I agree with Sandra in guessing your fave would be purple haze :)

  13. Hi Anne, :) that's a really funny story. I, myself, have not tried the "O" drink and since I'm not big on creamy drinks, maybe I shouldn't try it. Ah yes, Purple Haze did not disappoint, no cream there just some awesome purpleness. :)

Wishing you and yours a very Happy, Safe and Healthy New Year!
