What can be more symbolic for the notion of keeping peace than delivering the message using the word itself.
This is a photo of my very special souvenir Pace (Italian word for "Peace") and Peace flags from my 2005 Grand European Adventures trip. The symbolic message of peace delivered in a very charming, non threatening, colorful, uplifting, positive and Italian way.

The flag commonly has seven rainbow-colored stripes with the word "Peace" in the center. It has been explained as follows: "In the account of the Great Flood, God set the rainbow to a seal the alliance with man and nature, promising that there will never be another Flood. The rainbow thus became a symbol of Peace across the earth and the sky, and, by extension, among all men." ~ Wikipedia
Love it!! great take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteHappy hunting and happy weekend!

Hi Mar, thanks so much liking my take. Happy hunting and happy weekend to you too.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, K, and wonderful sentiments. Wishing you a peaceful weekend! M
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful and thoughtprovoking entry this week, Trekcapri. Peace... sought by so many but, unfortunately, sometimes with such different terms and conditions attached... :S
ReplyDeleteHi Girls, thanks so much for your comments.....
ReplyDeleteM, I'm glad you like my peaceful tiake. :) I hope that Hurricane Irene won't be in your area. I was thinking about all you eastcoasters while hearing the news. Take care....
YTSL, I agree with you...hope people can soon realize that peace is achieved through love and respect for each other.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend.
A great take on the theme. I love seeing those flags when I'm in Italy, both the Pace and Peace versions.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great weekend.
Hi Annie, thanks so much for liking my photo and take on the theme. I also love seeing them while I'm in Italy too. I bought these from a vendor in front of the Duomo in Italy. My friend asked me what I was doing. I said I'm buying my must have pace/peace souvenir flag. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are all okay on the east coast. Sorry you all have to hunker down this weekend because of Hurricane Irene. Take care...
Perfect thought for this week;s theme. I remember the first time we saw the flags in Italy - we couldn't figure out why there were gay pride flags everywhere! LOL Then we realized that they were for PEACE!
ReplyDeleteHi Jerry, :) . . . thanks for liking my post and pic. I think the rainbow is a perfect symbolism for both.
ReplyDeleteThanks for starting my day with a :). Have a good day.
Wow, Kathy, I missed this blog entry but I hope you are now recovered since your episode. My son in his younger years had asthma and I made middle of the night runs with him and his sister in the car. I know the physicality of the lack of breathe firsthand also. There are ways that life has a habit of reminding us to live each day fully. I know you must have some painful memories of your mom's health issues but these are memories that allow you to remember her - not just in times of need but also your bond to her. Thanks for sharing your feelings. On another matter, the idea of your PhotoStories is such a creative use of verbalizing feelings, memories, and events. Kudos to you for the idea! Stay on the road to recovery, and get planning another trip - you are way overdue! M
ReplyDeleteHi M, sorry but I'm not sure where your comment went. I published it and it shows that I did but can't find it so I copied it from the dashboard and pasted it here with my comments .....
Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragements to get on my next trip. :)
I'm sorry to hear that your son suffered from asthma. How scary for him and your family. I agree that it was a wake up call to live each day fully, which I make an effort to do. thanks for your very kind words about my mom. She is missed but I know she is in a good place and in very good hands, so I'm comforted by that.
I'm glad you like my PhotoStories. :) Not sure how many I will think up to do but it is fun and a nice creative outlet for me.
Hope your transition from summer to fall goes smooth. Enjoy our long Labor Day weekend coming up. I have a 4-Day weekend . Yay!
