PhotoHunt: Digital

Digital photography is one of the most significant technological advances to come along to make things easier for travelers.  The other being the Internet.

I couldn't resist a scanned film photo from my first ever trip to Europe to further illustrate the point.  And yes, that's me in my very touristy attire . . . shorts, sneakers, bright purple fanny pack and a wrap around sweat shirt.  But hidden under all of that is a very fashionable Italian leather belt I purchased in Florence.   :)

On this trip I brought 20 rolls of film which took so much room, I had to worry about them going through the x-ray machine and I didn't know until I got home whether my photos were any good.  I had to scan this photo because the quality of the negatives have deteriorated over the years.  Look at the difference in the quality.

I love how Digital photography has made things so much better to take, manage, share and preserve our precious travel memories.

  2. A great take on the theme. Digital photography has made traveling so much more fun; in the days of film, I din't take that many pics like I do now.

I skipped this week's PH...been so busy at work this week. So glad it's finally the weekend! Hope you have a good one.

  3. Hi Kathy --

I agree with you in your preference for digital over film cameras. I have to admit that I never was the shutterbug in the film camera era -- so much so that there are whole periods of my life without a single photo to show for it!

  5. Hi Everyone, thanks so much for your comments . . .

Mar, I'm glad you liked my theme and scanned photo. :)

Annie, I think Digital photography was one of the best things to come along for travelers (next to the internet). That's interesting that in the film days you didn't take as many photos as you do now. I actually take lots of photos and Digital has allowed me to take even more. :) I'm sorry that yu have been busy at work, I can relate to that feeling. I hope that it calms down for you soon.

    Have a wonderful relaxing weekend!

YTSL, that's interesting Annie also mentioned that she took less photos during the film days. there are some blocks of my life that are photoless too so have to rely on memory alone which is also good too. :) Have a great weekend!

M, I actually ended up having too much film and ended up giving a couple of rolls to a couple on my tour group who ran out. I love progress too....and glad you like my travel attire. LOL! Have a great weekend!

Thank you everyone for your comments and for liking my photos. Have a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend!

  7. Hi Life Ramblings, yes easier and for someone like me who's still learning photography I like the near endless capabilities with the use of memory cards and photostorage external drives to keep hundreds and hundreds of photos in. So I can take lots of memories of my trips. In fact on this trip my tour mates called me the "happy snapper!" :) A nickname I not only loved but lived up to!

Thanks so much for your comments and for liking my photo. Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Hi Marta, :) yes those small SD or CF Memory cards over multiple rolls of film and more importantly we can now view our photos and retake them if we want to. So nice to know that our photos came out. Btw, I'm glad I'm not the only one to a bag filled with rolls and rolls of film. :)

Thanks so much for your comments. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
