AI Recap: Saved . . . .

No AI eliminations last night because the judges finally decided to use their save! And who was the recipient? Piano playing Matt! And leave it to Simon to throw some cold water on the happy for Matt contestants by reminding them that two Idols will be eliminated in the next two weeks, because there are no more Saves.

Simon went on to deliver the news that next week's theme is Disco songs and then rolls his eyes! So what's wrong with Disco??:) For all you disco voting fans, get out your polyester bell bottoms and platform shoes, it's Disco week next week on Idol! I'm curious who the mentor will be?

And that's my Recap. Keep on Rocking AI . . .

BTW, I really enjoyed seeing Jennifer Hudson perform again on the Idol Stage!

  1. i'm curious what the song choices will be! Boy George - Adam; Gloria Gaynor's I will Survive (Lil), Donna Summer's Last Dance (?) - Should be very interesting. Agreed that Simon threw a wet towel on the Save....Have you seen the UTube of his London Show and Susan Boyle's song?? Makes your heart sing as well as hearing her sing...Have a good one, Menehune

  2. Hi Menehune, great ideas! Although if Lil doesn't do great next week, she could be doing Donna's Last Dance. She is a survivor though, so good for her. It'll definitely be fun seeing what the Idols will do and what songs they will select. I am definitely looking forward to Adam's performance next week. In addition to a Boy George song, I think it would be pretty cool to see his interpretation of a Bee Gee's song. Like maybe Saturday Night Fever (the ultimiate Disco song) or something like that! He's so creative, I bet he'd put his own signature on it. Maybe get Simon to give another standing Ovation.

I have not seen a Utube of his london show and Susan Bloyle's song. If it makes my heart sing, I'll definitely want to watch it.

    Have a good one too!

  3. Hi Kathy, I was so surprised that they used the Save on Matt! He is good but he's been very erratic over the past few weeks. And yes, it will make next week so intense since two will be eliminated!

Disco week...I think you are right that we will be hearing some BeeGees for sure. Lil should thrive since there are so many high-powered Disco Diva songs out there.

I wonder what Alison will do? She doesn't seem to have a disco bone in her body. :) And Anoop...maybe he needs to do one of those BeeGee ballads like "How Deep Is Your Love"? It's going to fun to see what they all do.

I saw Susan Boyle on the nightly news this week - it's a very heart-warming story!

Thanks for the recap and happy Thursday!

  4. Hi Annie, I was a bit surprised that their save was used on Matt too, being that he has been eratic. Hopefully, he'll do well next week. Disco week will be fun and I agree with you about Alison's style. I think it will be very interesting to see what song she picks and see how she performs it. How Deep is Your Love would be a great song choice for Anoop. Soft and mellow.

I will definitely make sure to find the video on Susan Boyle and learn about her heartwarming story.

Thanks so much for your comments Annie. Have a great day today!

  5. I, too, was surprised they saved Matt as he will not last another week. He is my least favorite--no, that's not true, Lil is. I'm really surprised she has lasted so long.

Menehune mentions Susan Boyle. If you haven't seen her, I have the video on my blog so flip over to it. It is really worth taking the time to see.

It will be fun to see Adam do disco.

  6. Trekcapri, I loved Disco and still do. I was so into Saturday Night Fever when it first came out. Disco makes me want to dance, dance dance! I just saw Donna Summer this past year at the Hollywood Bowl outdoor venue. It was wonderful. Everyone was up and dancing on a hot summer night. Next week should be fun! By the way I saw a old youtube of when Simon had such harsh things to say to Jennifer Hudson when she was being judged on AI. I guess he later apologized via satellite to her on an Oprah show. She is such a great entertainer vocalist.

  7. Here’s the link to Susan Boyle’s performance on Britain’s Got Talent

I’ve watched a few times and I get goose bumps each time. She is fantastic!

Disco next week?! Should be fun to watch.

    Happy Thursday!

  8. I missed it again. I really like Jennifer Hudson, and I am sure her performance was great as usual.

    Yeah, every one stays!

    And disco next week!

Thanks Annie, I feel that I just watched the show.

  9. Wow! Thanks everyone for telling me about Susan Boyle! I just watched it and it gave me goose bumps, made my heart sing and warmed my heart! Fantastic singer and a lovely person!

Jane, thanks so much for your comments. I too was very surprised that they used their one and only save on Matt someone who they didn't even praise all that well on his performance. I just watched Susan's video and loved it, but I will go see your post on her too. She sang so beautifully. Thanks so much for mentioning it also. In fact today at lunch a bunch of my co-workers and I were talking about her! I am looking forward to watching Disco week next week and am looking forward to how everyone and especially Adam will do! Should be a lot of fun!

Barb, I think Disco gets such a bad reputation, which I don't get. It's great music to dance to and great for parties too! That concert at the bowl sounds like fun. I love going there for concerts! You get to picnic and then listen to music under the stars. And I bet it was fun dancing to her songs under the stars too! Wouldn't it be great if Donna Summer was picked as their Mentor next week. It's funny but I was a big fan of Jennifer and always felt that she got voted off prematurely. I'm glad though that Simon apologized! I think he is right most of the time but this was one of those moments when he was not. I think the same thing happened with David Cook last year which he apologized on the results show. I'm really looking forward to Disco week! Thanks again for your comments and have a great evening.

Maria, thanks so much for the link! I watched it three times myself, she was so good! I love the lyrics to that song a lot and loved her performance. I wonder if this show airs here in the US? I must research this. I would really love to follow her progress on the show. I even listened to her sing Cry me a River which was linked on her YouTube video. Excellent Blues song! Thanks again for your comments and sharing the link Maria! Have a great evening!

Candi, thanks so much for your comments! Now you must watch Disco week, next week because I think that will be a fun show! :)

Thanks again everyone! It was fun to read everyone's comments and I totally loved learning about Susan Boyle! Have a great evening!
