Hello 2009 . . .

Hi everyone and a very Happy New Year! I'm back after a brief absence while my sis and her family were visiting me! It was so wonderful spending quality time with my sis. And they also had a really great time too! While here, they managed to . . .

See fake Paris . . .

They did a little of this . . .

did a little of that . . .

Ate a lot of this . . .

and a lot of that . . . .

Thanks for visiting Sis! Can't wait until the next visit . . .

And now I am back on-line and am happily catching up with all the new 2009 entries from my blogging buddies! It's a brand New Year with new thoughts, exciting new experiences, a new President (yay!) and more travel to read and write about! Whoo hoo!

  1. Great photos! So glad to hear that you guys had a good time. Is that snow tubing? My nephews went to W Va and went snow tubing over the holidays and they really liked it a lot.

    And yum...lobster! That looks great!

When you get a chance, check out my blog post about the Hoppin John Soup. I went to get my camera to take a photo for my Slow Soupers post and when I came back in the kitchen, Maria the kitten was eating my soup. It was hilarious! And on Xmas Eve, she got into the deviled eggs I was making and knocked one on the floor and was playing with it. She is a mess!

Maybe you will have kitten messes to clean up soon too - I can't even get mad at her because it's so funny!

Anyway, welcome back and here's to 2009. I hope that it's going to be a great year for you!

  2. Hi Annie! I just read your entry and saw Maria's little nose in your bowl of soup. She is so adorable, I just love reading about her activities. And the soccer playing with the deviled egg! Priceless! :)

And yes that was inner tubing and my sister totally enjoyed it, so I'm sure that your nephews had a blast with that too!

I love seafood and enjoyed eating quite of bit of it over the holidays! :) Back to the gym I go . . .

I have to call that guy that I met to get started on adopting little Ronda and maybe Lola! Whoo hoo!

I'm enjoying catching up with everyone! Happy New Year Annie! Wishing you and your family all the best in 2009! And Happy Belated Birthday to you and Sandra!

  3. I'm so happy to see you back! Bentornata! You were missed.

The photos are great and it looks like everyone had a spectacular time. Where's the "fake" Paris? I only know of the Eiffel Tower in Vegas. What fun to go tubing. We did that with the kids many years ago but now we go tubing in the river. The food looks so delicious. Yum!

I smiled when I read Annie's comments. I have now a very funny mental image of Maria playing with the egg on the floor. lol

Wishing you all the best for a wonderful 2009! To me the new year really begins on January 20. Can't wait.

  4. Welcome back!!

The tubing looks so much fun! I have been really missing snow lately and love that photo. Do you have a larger copy you could send me so I could make it my screen saver?

The lobster dish looks ono!! (delicious). So glad you had fun with your sister.

11 more days and Bush is GONE!! Can you believe it? It really hit me last night.

  5. Hi Maria, Happy New Year to you and your family! I'm so glad to be back. Yes, fake Paris is in Vegas where they have fake Venice and fake Bellagio too. :) Of course, I had to tell my sister that the "real" thing is a gazillion times better! I'm still trying to get her to go on a trip with me. She's never been to Europe and I really want her to see it. I've never tried river tubing before. I think that would be so fun too!

Annie's Maria makes me laugh! I still remember her missing earring episode. And her recent soup and devil's egg episode is also so funny! :)

Thanks for your comments Maria. I'm so enjoying catching up with everyone . . . And I totally agree with you about the 20th!

  6. Happy New Year Girasoli! My sis really enjoyed the snow tubing. It's a lot of fun! I told her that on her next visit I want to teach her to ski! That would also be fun for her to do for the first time! If only I can convince her to do a trip to Italy with me and more specifically Venice! I'm working on it! :)

Sure, I'll be glad to send you the original sized file. Is your e-mail in your ST profile? If not maybe you can PM me your e-mail.

And yes, after 8 really long years, we really need this change! I can't wait!

  11. I'm reading this after your post about Lucie, but am thinking what a blessing to know she was thinking of you at New Year's.

Your photos are wonderful, glad you had so much fun with your sister. The snow tubing looks like it would be a blast!! Although, unlike girasoli, I am NOT missing the snow, am in fact green with envy about her going to the beach!

Blessings to you this day, my friend!

  12. Hi Anne, thank you so much for your comments. Lucie was such a great person to know and I really admired her adventurous spirit a lot. I will totally miss talking to her and feel badly that I was out of the office to wish her a happy new year back. When I last saw her it was before Christmas and we gave each other a great big hug. Little did I know that would be the last time that I would see her. I will always think of her bright spirit and smile with great fondness.

Thanks for your comments on the photos. I loved hanging with my sis and her family and she has already told me that they are already planning their next trip. I told her that I would teach her to ski next trip!

And I agree, a day at the beach and especially a beach in beautiful Hawaii sounds like very cool . . . . lucky Girasoli.

Thanks so much Anne! Have a great week!

  13. Kathy, this looks like one heck of a great vacation...Paris and tubing and lobster -- oh my!

    Welcome back and Happy 2009!

BTW, I left a comment on your previous post about Lucie and can't tell if it went thru -- I hope so and hope that you're feeling better.

  14. Hi Sandra and Happy New Year and a Belated Birthday to you. I read a comment that it was your birthday and also Annie's Birthday recently. What a coincidence that they are both close together!

I read and published your thoughtful comments while at work because that's the one thing I can do from my i-phone but I'm unable to post comments on my blog for some reason. As soon as I came home I wanted to let you know that both Maria and Girasoli has had past problems posting comments on my blog. I also wanted to let you know that I really appreciated reading your comments while at work today. You are so nice to take the extra time to write your kind and very thoughtful comments again. Thank you so much Sandra!

I hope you had an awesome New Year Celebration! I remember reading all of your great movie reviews! And now I want to watch them.

All the best in the new year to you, your family and friends.
