Happy Holidays and Have a Wonderful & Safe New Year . . .

I really love this time of year when things are festive, families are getting together and oh yeah the gifts and presents and food and drink (but not while driving though). It's so much fun!

Happy Holidays Everyone! And have a wonderful and safe New Year! Hope Santa brings me one of the things on my wish list "under the tree"! If it's too much to ask for (which it is), then I'd be very happy with Italy and a kitten! :)

  3. Hi Leslie, thank you so much for all your comments throughout the year. I had to edit my post several times because I kept wanting to redo my scrapbook . . . I'm still in the learning stage. :)

Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Since you are ahead of us you'll be ringing it in for us and then we'll join in!

And I think you are an awesome and creative person and a terrific teacher! Take care and talk to you in 2009!

  4. Hi Girasoli, I'm so glad that Apple didn't come up with a new gadget this year, otherwise I would've added it to my Christmas Wish list too! I'm actually pretty happy with my one big trip wish and hopefully a new kitten. Reading Annie's, Anne's and Leslie's blogs have been too tempting for me.

Honestly I do wish good health for everyone too.

Thanks so much for all of your comments throughout the year. It's been so much fun reading everyone's blog and learning about so much. I can't wait to see what 2009 has in store ...

So what's on your wish list? Whatever they may be I hope they come true for you. Enjoy your time off. I have to work today but I'm pretty sure we'll get off early . . .

Have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year Girasoli!

  5. Happy Holidays Kathy!

Italy and a kitten, how perfect! I love all the things you put under your tree - great work with the digital scrap-booking!

I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year filled with exciting travel plans and kitten exuberance!

I'm heading to my brother's house soon. My nephews are bouncing off the walls with excitement, so it's going to be fun to hang out with them.

When I'm counting my blessings at the end of this year, I'll definitely include our blogging community and all the new friendships I made this year!

  6. Hi Annie, I can only imagine how excited your nephews are. Sounds like a really fun evening for you and your family! Very cool!

I agree with you. One of the things I am so grateful and thankful for this year is meeting all of my blogging friends and sharing experiences, knowledge and the joys of travel and life in general. It really has been a blessing!

Thank you so much for all of your kind comments this year and also for writing such great posts! And thank you also for all the great tips and all the encouragements. Our community is truly special.

I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year Annie!

  7. Merry Christmas, Kathy! I love the digital scrapbook effect (and is that a Smart Car? They are great!)

I hope that you get your Christmas wishes -- a kitten and another trip to Italy. Although you've made southern Spain look so beautiful, you might even want to return. I know I very much want to see the region someday soon (altho I'm already planning next year's trip back to Italy!)

As you and Annie have said, I think our blogging community is something very special and I count that among my many, many blessings. (I think it's also a blessing that I can leave work soon and then have four days off!!!)

    Have a wonderful Christmas, Kathy!!

  8. Holiday Greetings, Kathy!

I love your scrapbook – great job! You have some wonderful gifts under that tree. I hope all your wishes come true, especially Italy and the kitty. Do you have a list of possible names? I have a vague recollection of reading Lola (if female) somewhere ...

I've been cooking and baking non-stop since yesterday. We're going to two Christmas Eve open houses and my kids are coming home before midnight to spend the night. They are in their late 20's but on Christmas Eve and on the 25th they regress to their childhood. It's fun to see them all excited.

I'm also very grateful for the wonderful blogging community we have and for all the new friends that have come into my life. You have been a source of inspiration with all the research you've done before a trip, your awesome trip report and your on-the-road blogging. It was wonderful to read your impressions and thoughts on Spain while you where there and I had just returned.

Merry Christmas Kathy and I hope the holidays find you surrounded by all your favorite people.

  9. Italy and a kitten. Now that sounds like a perfect Christmas list. I hope you receive everything that your heart desires.

I hope you and your family also have a wonderful Christmas. Here is to a great New Years and lots of fun travel.

  10. Merry Christmas Sandra! I think I'm finally getting the hang of the digital scrapbooking. It's fun and I'm getting some tips from looking at Leslie's beautiful designs. Yes, that is a Smart car! The big joke between my friend and I was that our two 31" luggages combined were larger than the car. We each posed in front of it and still couldn't stop laughing thinking about it.

I do hope my Christmas wish and all of your wishes come true too! I would love to return to Southern Spain soon and even try northern spain as well. It's still strong in my heart! I hope you can visit there someday too because I think you would really like it. Although planning a trip to Italy is pretty great too. I can't wait to hear more about where you are planning to visit next.

I feel so fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community. I almost feel like I've known all of you for much longer than I have.

Lucky you to have 4 days off! That's great. Enjoy!

I want to thank you so much for all of your comments throughout the year and for your tips. I'll never forget my first foreign films ever. Volver that you recommended and Mar Adentro by Maria! I thought of those two films often while I was in Spain!

Sandra, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and happy New Year!

  11. Merry Christmas Maria! I did mention Lola when I saw a kitten that looked just like Annie's Lulu at the Alhambra. I tend to give nicknames on my trips for some reason and so I nick named her Lola! But since I loved Ronda a lot, Annie gave me another great name if I get a girl, Ronda! So maybe if I get two kittens then I will name them Ronda & Lola! They'll always remind me of Spain.

How great to have your children home for the holidays! And I bet they are really looking forward to your cooking and to just being home with their mom and dad. That would bring the excitement out for any child no matter their age...that's the fun part I think. Plus it means that they have very fond childhood memories!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for all your comments throughout the year. I'll never forget your e-mail to me on July 4th and taking time out of your holidays to get me to book my flights before the fares went up! It's funny that my sister and friends actually know all of you because I constantly talk about you all. I am really enjoying reading your impressions on Spain too! It's fun remembering the same places together. Almost makes me feel like I had a travel companion on this trip!

Maria, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe New Year! I am very lucky to have my sister coming for the holidays and we have some fun things lined up for the next two weeks. But come New Year, I'll be saying a very special toast to all my Blogging Friends!

  12. Merry Christmas Marta! Yes, it really does sound like perfect gifts don't they!

I want to thank you so much again for your comments and for taking the time to read my Spain Itinerary. With the help of all my blogging friends my trip to Spain was such a huge success. I know that I will return really soon in the future. Next to Italy, Spain is my next favorite country now.

I can't wait to hear about your trip to Borneo. It really sounds like a beautiful place to visit!

Marta, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe New Year! I am totally looking forward to doing more Slow Travel in 2009!

  13. Happy holidays!

Like the others have said - there isn't much better than a kitten and Italy for the holidays - although likely not at the same time. :-)

All the best in 2009 - may it be filled with adventures, travels, and fun times!

  14. Hi Jdeq, Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year! And yes, I think Santa will pay me a visit soon . . . I enjoyed the holidays photos you posted, so cute. I can't wait for little Ronda and little Lola to arrive . . .

Have an awesome New Year, I'm heading out in a little bit to ring in the new year in Vegas and Big Bear Lake soon with my sis and her family and I'm bring a bottle of Prosecco and Cava with me! :) Whoo hoo!

  15. Kathy, thanks for the (as always) kind comment you left me a little while ago - hopefully I have some insights left in me for 2009! Sounds like you are going to have fun NY's Eve. I don't have any prosecco but I do have a yummy bottle of cava to ring in the New Year. Valerie invited us to join her annual celebration with her family and other friends, so I think we too will have a wonderful evening!
You wondered if I got that DVD I wanted...I am just writing up an entry to answer that question!

  16. HI Anne, I'm sure you'll have many more insights to delight us and inspire us with in 2009! Cava, yum! Hopefully I can read your post before I leave. I have a feeling your household was awoken to the sounds of ABBA this morning! :)

Take care and enjoy your gift. BTW, if I wasn't on an airplane 30,000 feet in the air I might have done a little clapping and singing myself on my plane ride back to the states.. Ha Ha!
